Disney on a Budget

Reviewed 23 october, 2021

Staying at a value resort is one way to stay on a budget and still experience the Disney extras. The on-property benefits include use of Magic Express from/to the airport, bus transportation to/from the parks, Disney Springs, and other resorts, and resort activities/pools. Resort activities included a daily pool party, craft activity (rotated by day), a daily campfire with free marshmallows for roasting, and a nightly movie. The craft activities required an additional fee and a s’mores kit could be purchased to go with the roasted marshmallows. The room was decent for the price and being on-property. There is a Murphy bed that pulled down to give 2 beds. With the 2nd bed down, space was comparable to a standard hotel room. The bathroom included a tub and separate doors from the tub/toilet and sink. There was a 2-cup coffee pot and small mini fridge in the room as well. There wasn’t a lot of hanging clothes space, but who really needs that much when on vacation. The property included a gift shop with a variety of items, as well as a quick service restaurant that offered (highly suggested) mobile ordering. The food was decent and convenient, ready pretty quickly after ordering. Theme of movies was carried through the outside decorations - from 101 Dalmatians, to Herbie the Love Bug, to Fantasia, and Andy’s Room from Toy Story. In addition to the main pool, there was a second pool (we didn’t use that one), a splash pad and mini pool for the wee ones, a playground, and 2 ping pong tables for use. Be sure to take advantage of the direct-to-room feature with either the app on your phone or your MagicBand. We passed a LONG line at the front desk when we arrived and went directly to our room (location updated on the app and texted to my phone) Overall, we found all castmembers (staff) to be friendly and do their best to assist whenever needed. Would not hesitate to stay here again if the need arose. NOTE- Murphy beds are loud when pulling down or putting them up. Please be considerate of your “neighbors” and do not do it late at night or early in the morning. It can be heard in the room next to you and may wake sleeping little ones.

Great Hotel

I would recommend All Stars Movies for those with budget in mind but want to stay on property. When we stayed there they were still offering Magic Express. This was a free transportation service and was easy to take. No long lines when we went, an awesome bus driver and a comfortable ride. The hotel itself is renovated and small rooms, but well done and space is used wisely. The pools are wonderful and they offered fun activities at the pool daily. The food at the resort was actually some of the best food we had at WDW ( other than Disney Springs)! I’m sad to say we didn’t discover this until our last day. If you like pin trading, some of the best pin trading during our trip (in the gift shop). The staff was VERY helpful! We had an issue with our park reservations and the staff member there jumped through hoops to help us! We really appreciated that! The only drawback to staying there, you will be the last for everything! What I mean is that All Stars Movies is the last stop for Magical Express, the last stop for the Disney buses, even the furthest station at the parks when waiting for the bus! Be prepared to walk far because of this. That is my only complaint and really can’t complain over that since it is the most budget friendly of the Disney resorts.

Decent Place to Stay for Disney Vacation

Reviewed 6 october, 2021

We stayed here on a family vacation with four adults, a three-year-old, and a one-year-old in adjoining rooms. The rooms were very clean and well-appointed but also pretty small. If you lower the Murphy bed in your room (which replaces the table), there's very little floor space. Another minor complaint with the rooms is that there's no comfortable seating--just a couple of lightly padded chairs. Our room was on the backside of one of the Love Bug buildings, so we heard very little noise. I assume that rooms near the pools would be louder. You can evidently make special requests (specific floor, distance from elevators) as well as requesting adjoining rooms. Having adjoining rooms with a connecting door was a lifesaver for us and almost turned the two rooms into a suite. The themed decor outside is fun: three-story-tall characters from Fantasia, Toy Story, etc. The grandkids enjoyed getting their pictures taken with Donald and Daisy statues as well as live characters that popped up one morning. The food is typical food-court fare geared toward kids. Mobile ordering is great--you never have to stand in line. Drinks are expensive, but you can buy a $20 travel mug and get free refills at any Disney resort during your stay. The longer you stay, the better a deal that is. We rarely waited very long for a bus to take us to the parks and Disney Springs. It's worth noting that the hotel is at the far southern end of the property, so bus rides can be long. My biggest concern was the arcade. Several of the machines were broken, and the carpet was way overdue for cleaning or replacement. I was really surprised that this space hadn't been overhauled during the pandemic shutdown.

Nice resort, not flashy but gets the job done

My wife and I went down to celebrate the 50th anniversary and enjoyed our stay at All-Star movies. Positives: -clean room -comfortable bed -soft towels -Decent quality shampoo and body soap -Food was pretty good at the cafeteria and prices were fair -Pools were large and staffed with guards -customer service was excellent and up to Disney standards -pick up and drop off was timely and prompt from the parks Negatives: -rooms were stocked with towels and trash was taken out but beds were not made by housekeeping each day -The gift shop didn't have the best selection of items -Arcade games could have been a bit cheaper Overall great experience and we would return in the future.

Mixed review

The hotel is very clean, it’s got an interesting layout, and of course you were on Disney property literally a two minute drive to animal kingdom. However my biggest disappointment is I’ve stayed at this hotel in the past, normally I’ve paid around $100, recently the prices have been increased and I have to be honest if you’re paying more than $100, you’re paying too much especially compared to offsite properties that have a good value to them. It’s not worth, $200 a night. I understand the Disney transportation but the lines for the buses are very long at the parks especially first thing in the morning and at the end of the night. I found it easier to drive myself. However I understand if you’re not with the vehicle, it makes a difference. It has great photo opportunity, the bed was comfortable. I can’t imagine a family of four in this room. Here’s my biggest note for anybody considering the hotel, do not pay for preferred room. This type of room only guarantees you a building not a location, for example we have a preferred room but we had a view of a parking lot. I called the front desk and they explained the difference which I was not fully aware of. Luckily they moved me, but if you want a specific location you have to go to the front desk. But no guarantees
