We so enjoyed our stay that our next one will be longer, just to enjoy what the property has to offer. The rooms have been modernized and although on the smallish side, have everything you need; microwave, fridge, keurig, mugs, plenty of storage & high end toiletries (love Beekman)! It is a hotel with an amazing view that you can enjoy from your private balcony with chairs. There’s also a huge lawn with scattered Adirondack chairs and picnic tables, cornhole set and a lovely pool that we’ll have to enjoy next time. We checked in after dark but used our phone’s lights to explore and found a great fire pit and dock with rockers on the water. It was a great place to sit and relax after a long day of driving and watch the ships go by in the channel. Don’t be fooled by the breakfast being advertised as continental; it is a full breakfast bar with eggs, meat, made to order waffles, bagels & toast, oatmeal, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea and so many fresh toppings for oatmeal. Take your meals on the restaurant patio; the flowering blooms (in mid-September) and meticulous landscaping add to the serenity of being by the water.

I highly recommend this hotel. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, bathroom was fine w toilet and tub/shower separated from the sink by a door for convenient privacy. Had refrigerator and microwave. We had a room at ground level facing the river. We parked in front of our room. Felt safe at all times. The view was fantastic and the access to seating area at river edge was perfect. The breakfast offered was very nice with hot and cold options. Staff were very nice. There is a restaurant on site but we didn't try it. It is highly recommended and has a nice dining room w outdoor seating available. We would definitely stay again at this hotel. We explored the area (Robt Moses State Park, Potsdam, Canton, and Ogdensburg) and the inn was the perfect base to return to at the end of the day.

. . . the inn, not so much.
The grassy river frontage and the view of the St. Lawrence and the Canadian shoreline is the only thing this place has going for it. Don’t be fooled by the “inn” part. It’s just a run down two-star motel.
Our non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes. When I called the front desk upon check in to report it, Travis didn’t say “I’m sorry.” He said “We won’t charge you for it.” He didn’t bother to apologize or comp part of the stay. It took three hours to air out the room with the door propped open. Carpet in the room was old and hadn’t been deep cleaned in some time; the paint around the door jamb was worn off; it took the heating/air conditioning unit more than two hours to cool the room on a warm (mid-70s) day. Room photos on the website have been brightened to make the accommodations appear sunny and pleasant. In reality they’re dim, dark, and stuffy.
The family at the other end of the room block was noisy. I get it - little kids are loud. Their poor mother was clearly exhausted. When the kids’ father arrived at the end of the day, he proceeded to shout and curse at the toddler (who was maybe all of three.). One of the family’s friends looked like he was coming down from a drug high. The family left empty water bottles and other garbage in front of their room all evening and night. Not my business, but also not what you want to look at when paying $132 a night. Clientele are a mix of older couples, people traveling for work in the area, and what’s referred to as “white trash.”
I took my dog down to the river at sunset. An older couple was on the deck overlooking the river. As soon as the loud family arrived, they got up and left. The wife gave me a prolonged wry smile that clearly said “My peaceful sunset was ruined too.”
Restaurant was surprisingly okay. The owner was going table to table greeting people. Glassware was badly in need of a rinse aid (I hope it was cleaner than it looked). The laundry room was a nice surprise, and much needed. But the machines are old, and the previous guest didn’t bother to clean the lint filter.
The best thing about the place was the two girls cleaning it. Bed was hospital-cornered tight, which made for a snug sleep. Rooms were immaculate. One of the girls was actually wiping down the door threshold on hands and knees when I arrived. I left her a $10 tip. I wish I could have left her $50.
Clearly the owner knows he has little competition, so he has no incentive to renovate the place. Stay for the view but know you’re paying $100+ for a $65 room.
a bit noisy...walls are thin

We are still staying here as I write this review on the first night we are here.
First, the location is nice and it's nice to have a small balcony to sit on overlooking the St Lawrence River...very nice. We are on the second floor but, no elevators although, that isn't too bad. Everything is clean and nice.
The only problem is that we are now listening to our neighbors next to us and I really really hope they don't stay up too long talking or they bang the headboard against the wall too much later. Depending on the noise, we may be asking for a different room tomorrow.
