Solar do Rosário Hotel is a mansion located in the Historic Center of Ouro Preto / MG, dating from the nineteenth century, which brings original memories and beauties of a solid construction and a golden age, with the heritage of good mining hospitality. Impressive by the set of doors that make up its façade, the English balcony that surrounds the manor and its privileged location next to the Rosary Church, overlooking the Churches of St. Francis of Paul, Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Joseph and Pico do Itacolomi The building has been completely renovated and restructured to comfortably allocate...

Let us start with the positives. The gent at check in was charming, the chef at breakfast made me a nice omelet and talked me through my gluten free options. However, the gent at reception did not speak a word of any language except Portuguese. Thus I struggled to find my room, and this five star hotel has no one to help with luggage. On the way to my room a walked down a coridor and up some steps. Building material had fallen down from the ceiling and was lying on the carpet, which by the way was not a fit state to be in a 3 star hotel. The material is still here 36 hours later. My room was not attended to in the 9 hours I was gone. I ate at the restaurant. Leonardo was a helpful and charming waiter and found me gluten free food. It was sadly of very poor quality, bordering on the unedible. Running a hotel during the last couple of years in a smallish provincial town in BRA cannot have been easy. So if they made fewer claims about the service level, quality et all, and charged according to what they offer rather than pretend to offer, I would be more lenient. As it is, I would not recommend this hotel.

A wonderful time spent

Reviewed 28 april, 2020

We stayed at this hotel for almost two weeks in an executive suite. We wanted to ensure that we were comfortable for the long stay. And we were not disappointed! The suite was the size of an apartment, with a Juliette balcony over a lovely peaceful courtyard. The hotel grounds are large and wonderful, and very well maintained, with an outdoor and indoor pool, which we enjoyed every day. Breakfast was perfect, with everything you could ask for, and high quality. We used the restaurant in the evening a number of times and again, food was outstanding. We will definitely stay here again!

Lack of security and commitment to customer satisfaction

Reviewed 6 february, 2020

We stayed at the hotel in December 2019. We went for a walk and left the bedroom window open. A person came in through the bedroom window and stole our credit cards and wallet. He came back a second time to steal the rest, luckily we were inside the room and the assailant got scared and ran away through the window he entered. The hotel did not take responsibility and did not refund the stay. Total lack of common sense and commitment to safety. / Ficamos hospedados no hotel em dezembro de 2019.

A wonderful place to stay in charming Ouro Preto. Get the romantic suite(s) with good views of the adjoining Cathedral. Good restaurant choices and bar. An ideal hotel in this wonderful part of Brazil.

Hotel full of character

Reviewed 13 january, 2020

We just had an overnight stay in this hotel which is full of character and conveniently located only a short walk from the town centre. Our Executive Suite had a lovely four poster bed with a separate sitting area overlooking the garden. The bathroom was very spacious. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety to choose from as well as freshly cooked hot breakfast. All the staff were helpful and friendly and even parked our car in the Private car park. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel
