Albergo Al Fagiano

We were there during shoulder season and had no heat or AC. The room (46) was roomy, clean and comfortable. The marble open staircase is just outside the room and transmitted all sounds from lower reaches. Fascinating art in the foyer. Good breakfast with made to order cappuccino.. Dining area too small.

We stayed four nights in this hotel and really enjoyed it. We asked for a room overlooking the Basilica and were given room 80 where the Basilica bells rang straight into our room.The room was basic but clean with unusual multi media paintings on the walls. The staff/proprietors were friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast is outside in the courtyard and the selection of fresh fruit was very good. Hams and salami and cream cheeses as well as the usual cereals, yoghurts etc. Multiple cups of tea/coffee were offered. Next door is a restaurant offering Italian dishes we had never tried before - pork and walnuts was delicious and the roast rabbit very good. Wines by the glass available at very reasonable prices. This is an interesting hotel especially if you love artwork. The owner is also an artist who has painted and sculpted all of the artwork throughout the hotel. The rooms were very clean and quiet and had a lot of old world charm. The breakfast was good and the owners take pride in their establishment. This hotel is centrally located and does have an elevator which is something of a premium in many of the smaller and medium sized towns in Italy.

Super hotel. Great location just a step away from Il Santo. Wonderful decoration throughout, e erywhere you look there is something unique to see. The room was fantastic, great décor, clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

We had read the reviews before booking this hotel, and they were spot on. We were greeted very warmly when we arrived, and although we arrived early, our room was ready and we checked in immediately. The room was large and clean. The decor was interesting— we chatted with the artist whose artwork decorated the room. She was charming and passionate about her work. We found the people at the desk to be helpful in finding out about trams etc. The location is a three minute walk to the basilica. A few things to be aware of: if you have mobility problems, let them know, so you can have a room that entails no stairs. We chose not to have the breakfast option. There are several cafes along the main streets— great pastries.
