This looked fabulous in the pictures, but we were disappointed. We had a ground floor comfort room. The decor was very drab, but the bed was super comfortable and the shower was excellent. The sliding door on the bathroom did not lock. The wardrobe seemed to be child size so that anything long draped along the bottom. This maybe because it was also suitable for disabled, but it didn't really work for us. Being on the ground floor meant that we had to keep the curtains closed as anyone walking past could see in. Breakfast on the first morning was fine, but the large tray was just plonked on our table, meaning we had to move our plates out of the way. The second morning was totally different. It was laid out buffet style with croissants, eggs, cheese, cereals, fruit etc - all very nice. Sadly on our last morning, the tray was again plonked on the table and we were given stale croissants! The pool is slightly away from the main building, down some sharp concrete steps, which is not ideal for children or anyone less able bodied. There was also only one sun umbrella - it was very hot during our stay, but if anyone else was using the pool, there was no shade if the umbrella was already in use. The location is great for Carcassonne, but I would not recommend staying here for more than one night. It all seems a bit tired and could do with an update. The saving grace was the fabulous restaurant next door, which is nothing to do with the Hotel. So I would describe this as an average Hotel - certainly not luxury and rather overpriced

Not impressed -- see pics

Given the wonderful reviews of this hotel, I had expectations for the place. Reality proved me wrong. For 132 Euros a night, we had a very small room at the top of the house with a tiny bathroom and this bed pushed near the wall made me rather claustrophobic. No desk and one rickety chair we shared. With COVID, the owner explained to us that the room would not be cleaned for the duration of our stay (3 nights) and that we would have to request clean towels. That was not a good surprise. I was very underwhelmed on the whole and I will let you judge with my pics. Two positives: nice location near Carcassonne and lovely breakfast.

Fabulous place

This hotel is a real Jewel. The owners are charming and welcoming, even though they had very few guests when we stayed, they made sure that all our needs were met. The room was very comfortable much so that we overslept! Everything was clean and homely. The grounds are charming and beautifully kept. It was a bit chilly to try the swimming pool although it looked very inviting. The lounge/sitting area has the owner’s collection of bandes dessinées books, which would have entertained us for a long time if we had allowed them to! Altogether a delightful overnight stay and one to which I would very happily return and spend a little longer,

Just wonderful!

My wife and I spent 5 days here and hated leaving. What a lovely property and the owners, Catherine and Erich are delightful. We loved the location. Quiet setting on a large parcel of land invites you too plop down is a chair on the lawn and read a book.. There is a pool and spa (hot tub), rooms are equipped with flat screen TV's although we ended up streaming English content, air conditioning and a small frig.. Rooms are large and tastefully decorated. Bathroom has a towel warmer and stall shower in addition to a tub. The bed was very comfortable. Downstairs was a breakfast room where continental breakfast is served. Cheese, meats, fruit, fresh juices, hard boiled eggs, toast and a coffee machine for Cappuccino, Espresso, etc. Wifi is strong. Right next door is a restaurant (not part of the Chateau) and another right down the road, or you can drive into Carcasonne just 15 minutes away.

Delightful and quiet

We stayed here on a trip through France to Spain and on our way back through France we stayed here again. The rooms are very basic, in a way, because of the design of this older building, but they have everything you need and actually are much larger than typical older French hotel rooms. Large bathroom with a shower and lovely windows with shutters bookended the interior of both rooms. The host(ess) was extremely accommodating and kept in touch with her mobile phone anytime we needed help. We are cyclists and we took a ride nearby on both visits and we were then allowed to keep our bikes inside, under the stairway. Not that safety could be an issue in the delightful perched and private area where the Château sits. Parking is ample and safe. We ate at the very good restaurant adjacent. All in all a lovely stop. Times two. Take a walk in the garden if the weather permits. The hotel also has a reading area and a charming breakfast room with easy access to coffee for early risers. And for those who are interested it is very close to Carcassone.
