DO NOT STAY HERE!

I have never experienced a place like this before. I am a longtime Marriott member and can usually trust that I am getting a safe and clean place to stay. The pictures are usually representative of what I'm getting, but in this case it was far from it. As soon as I walked in there was a pretty awful odor and it got even worse once I walked into the room. The room was not clean, it smelled like mold or wet carpet, the carpet was definitely worn, the door was worn and had kick marks all over it, the tile in the restroom was chipped and full of brown dirt like it hasn't had a proper cleaning. I was also given a room where you could hear the freeway noise as soon as you walk in and I was assured that this was a great and quiet room at check in. I have stayed at some pretty bad places but this was awful, so bad I actually had to find another place to stay on a holiday weekend in October. I paid a lot to stay somewhere else, but honestly didn't feel safe here. I was also charged a cancellation fee even though this place was obviously not up to par and the website did not represent what this place really is. Just read some of the previous reviews and do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
Worn and Smelly

This place is definitely worn around the edges and in desperate need of an overhaul. The hallway carpets have seen better days. The hallway walls need painting. The hallway room doors with metal kickplates make it look like a college dormitory. THE ROOM SMELLED BAD. Thank goodness I brought my own HEPA filter with me. That helped. The beds are SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE ... way too soft. Woke up with a back and neckache. After wiping down the surfaces with Clorox wipes (I've always done this, even before the pandemic), the amount of dirt in the bathroom (gross) and around the coffee service tray was unacceptable. The check in staff was efficient and courteous, although not particularly friendly. The decor of the room was fine, neither impressive nor offensive. Although from the outside it looks like an 80s medical building, the rooms benefit from big windows, and they are effective at limiting the freeway noise outside. The nicest part of the hotel is the lobby. It was updated, clearly ... too bad they didn't manage to remake the guests rooms over as nicely.
Bed Bug Bites and a Wet Carpet
Reviewed 10 august, 2021
Nice from the outside and convenient to highways and attraction. However, the room experience was truly a nightmare and at $300+ per night way over priced. We couldn't sleep. The carpet was wet and made the whole room, sheets included, uncomfortably damp and moist. That's not the worst part. We woke up with bug bites on our arms and legs. The bites lasted for at least a week. The hotel had no desire to offer compensation for such a horrific stay. I do not trust this company anymore.

The room was very comfortable. The bed was excellent. After staying a week on a sub par mattress this one was like heaven. It was easy to get around to all touristy places from this location. The staff was great and due to us being a gold elite member our room was upgraded. We enjoyed our stay.
Decent Stay, Great Customer Service

We stayed at the Boston Marriott Peabody on our trip to Salem since the location was ideal and safe! Upon arrival, the hotel itself was pretty empty and quiet, so checking in was quick and easy. The woman who assisted us at the Front Desk (I don't want to butcher her name) was extremely courteous and helpful. Although we were checked into our first room on the first floor with a broken window lock and mold on the curtains, we were quickly moved to a higher floor after I brought this to the attention of the Front Desk and confirmed that I was a Bonvoy Gold Elite member. After being moved upstairs, the rest of the stay was much more pleasant. The room itself was clean enough, but we still wiped everything down to be safe (and because of our initial room issues). The amenities were acceptable and the room was in decent condition. It was nice that we were able to reserve the Fitness Center for personal use (this was a huge plus)! Overall, our stay was perfectly decent. The Boston Marriott Peabody was quiet, safe, and spacious. Despite our initial issues, the hotel staff quickly remedied the situation and made things right which I commend them for. They also followed COVID-19 protocols pretty well, which I was definitely thankful for!
