Chestnut Ridge Room very nice

This is the second time we stayed here. This time instead of the lodge we were in the Chestnut Ridge part and had a middle room as it’s three floors. The room had a king bed, fireplace, back deck, huge shower, keurig, microwave. Very clean. Our biggest issue was being in the middle and it being an older building, we could hear the people above us walk as the floor creaked. Wasn’t too bad except they were early risers so we were awake before we really wanted to be. Next time I would request top floor. We ate breakfast at Harvest in the lodge, good food a little upscale but good. All staff very helpful but especially Bre at front desk. We had questions about local restaurants, issues with keeping our fire going cause the wood outside was wet and she was always helpful! They gave us wood but I would suggest taking some because it did rain the day we got there and the wood is kept outside under a roof but still got wet/damp. Other than that no issues. I would go back!
Not what it use to be.

We have been to the lodge many times but something has changed. They now charge a fee for everything and the service was not very good. We spent over 700 for two nights, two breakfasts, and one meal. The first night we turned the heat off and still the room was 85 according to the thermostat. Not a restful night sleep when you sweat to death. We let them know and they recommended leaving a window open in the middle of winter. We payed extra for a room with a fire place and in the past they had wood ready to use. We had to go get our own wood and then all they had was wet wood that would not burn. We ask them for dry wood and they said they did not have any. At checkout we found they had not included all the fees with the price we were quoted so we had to pay more. We let them know our disappointment in the weekend and was told quote “I’m sorry have a nice rest of your day”. They lost a regular customer this weekend. Use to recommend the lodge to everyone and now can recommend it for anything other than dinner.

Perfect trip to getaway and reconnect. Fireplace in the room was a great touch. Hiking was perfect and food was good. The views were spectacular, and we enjoyed the scavenger hunt. Would come back again.
wonderful stay though too short

It reminded us of The Balsams in New Hampshire, one of our favorite resort hotels. Also, it was fun to learn that this was the filming location for the movie Dirty Dancing! Country-like atmosphere, beautiful property, with lots of outdoors activities to take advantage of.

Service was outstanding, the food was out of sight and the attention to details by the staff was top-notch!! If you're expecting a TV in the room, that is not going to happen at the lodge. TV's .are however available in the Tavern and adjoining room. Fireplace in the tavern was wonderful, however someone may have forgotten about the wood burning one in the Lodge greeting area. As information, the lodge has two but NO elevator. Plenty of first floor rooms though.
