Roadtrip Chile - Perfect Spot

Before I went here I didn’t know about the existence of this hotel nor Pichelemu itself.
I can be short on this recommendation: what a great location (views, seaside etc.) and what a superb hotel.
When visiting I recommend to take some surflessons (one of their “experiences”) Teacher Nicholas is a great person and gives good lessons/takes a lot of time/care.
Will be back soon.
Didn‘t feel very welcomein this nice hotel,

After three weeks traveling through Chile, we decided to spend the last two days in some luxury: so we booked via Booking.com two nights (each for 200 US$) in the Alaia Design Hotel, near Pichilemu.
When we arrived, the door man could not find our booking - no wonder, the hotel had mistaken our reservation in their own system. So the first impression was: „sorry but you‘re booking starts tomorrow.“ After showing the booking.com confirmation, the receptionist was confused and a little bit annoyed about the situation. She told us, water would be free in general in the hotel and asked, if we wanted a bottle of water. When we agreed, she came back from the kitchen, apologizing, that during lunch, there were no free bottles. After a while she showed us our room. She mentioned, that she would bring us water in some minutes - never happened and on request, the next receptionist was annoyed too. No worry - we stop with the water story here.
The room was really nice! Totally clean, everything you need. The view was exceptional and the bed was very comfortable. The door to the really nice balcony was in closed status still open, so that you could see the outside through the gap between frame and door. Not really nice for a 200$ night.
Wifi was very unstable and in 2/2 mornings completely not available.
Breakfast was pretty nice - a lot of choices, unfortunately a lot of flies too but a really nice breakfast crew, who was very attentively.
In total: the design, the rooms and the rest of the hard product is very well. It feels like there‘s missing a little bit of respect to maintain the details (flies, water, old paint on window frames) - overall - a solid and high quality hotel!
But ... the staff (except breakfast crew and housekeeping, which were very friendly) was not, what I expected by a hotel in this category. In every situation, we as guest felt like, we would disturb the receptionists. We didn’t feel very welcome. And this part of the (soft) product is at least as important as a spacious room.
Beautiful location but inattentive staff

Hotel Alaia is a beautifully designed and built hotel, in a stunning spot and with great views over the ocean from the rooms and the main building. Sadly it is let down by staff that does not appear to have any interest in the guests, certainly not the non-Chilean ones. I stayed here for eight days, eating all breakfasts, all dinners and most lunches here, but not once did someone come introduce themselves or ask how I was. When I tried to book a wine tour, advertised in the activities book, I was told that availability depended on the sommelier and that they would get back to me - but they never did. There were not a lot of guests when I was there (and there are only 12 rooms anyway) so it would not have been difficult to pay a long staying guest some attention. A real missed opportunity.
Great spot, very nice people and wonderful view!

Look no further than this great hotel. The decor is well done, cool and so cozy I loved it. Even though the prices at the restaurant are kinda steep, the food is excellent, they have a great menu and everything’s delicious and well cooked. We made the mistake to go eat to another place and totally regretted it.
The rooms are all the same but they're spacious with everything you need besides they all have a great view to the ocean.
My husband and I really loved this cool hotel, the people are really nice and willing to do everything to keep you happy. They have this huttub and a bar near the swimming pool that makes your stay very relaxing.
We can't wait to come back!
