Lovely hotel for a stop over

Reviewed 29 july, 2022

Friendly and helpful staff in a lovely rural venue but not too far from the main roads. A wide selection of delicious food at dinner with an excellent offer of a bottle of wine free with 2 courses. Breakfast equally good (no wine required!)

My Wedding Day

Reviewed 29 july, 2022

Wedding Day 7 July 2022. Firstly i stayed with my bridesmaids on the 6 July 2022, nothing was a problem, room was a good size for 3 of us. We did not want a sit down meal just nibbles so Andy advised us we could order pizzas even though they were not on the menu and they were delicious and very well priced. It was a really relaxing night before my wedding. We ordered breakfast on the morning of my wedding very fresh they put us in the garden room which we also used to get our makeup and hair done nice bright and big room for a big wedding party. Staff amazing reception Christine, Margaret. Big Shout out to Emma, Stacey and Andy and also Amanda. My wedding day went so smoothly because of the amazing staff at Hallgarth. We opted for afternoon tea and BBQ on the night everyone said how nice it was - some of the staff are young but they are professional and they also had a great time at our wedding so thank you for making our guests so welcome. We will be back defo be back for our anniversary and for meals and afternoon tea beforehand. Don't over look this place for a wedding honestly you will have the best day at the Hallgarth the grounds are beautiful - i was married outside and nothing was a problem. Much love to Hallgarth Mr and Mrs Lydle

Biggest commendation for Jess

Reviewed 18 july, 2022

My wife and I attended a wedding here 2 weeks ago and not only did Jess deal with us the night previous and solve the room issues we had. But continued immaculate service all day throughout the wedding. All of the wedding party were extremely happy and we were made to feel at home and a great atmosphere all day from Jess and all of her young staff. She even managed to see us off to bed well after 2am! Can’t thank hallgarth enough for our stay.

Wish it didn’t end!

We had the best stay here at Hallgarth Manor, everything was better than we expected! It was extremely clean, great facilities and the breakfast was fantastic with loads of options for all! We couldn’t not mention how amazingly helpful and friendly all the staff were but in particular Amanda who went the extra mile to ensure we had the best stay! Nothing was too much trouble for her and we were very sad to say our goodbyes! Overall best trip we have been on thanks to Hallgarth Manor, hope to be visiting again soon!

Lovely place to stay for Durham if you have a car

Reviewed 7 july, 2022

Such friendly and helpful staff (Amy, Amanda, Judith and the rest!) made our stay very enjoyable. We stayed two nights for a graduation day; it was less than 15 mins drive to the centre of Durham. Comfortable rooms, smart sitting areas, delicious breakfasts and a lovely setting with trees and gardens. We didn't eat there in the evening, but the bar staff served drinks later. Our room/shower wasn't huge but was good value (booked quite far ahead); bigger rooms also available. Front desk not staffed after 9pm or so, so if you telephone, do so earlier in the day. There is a night porter on duty after that for late arrivals. Usually busy with weddings at weekends.
