Night away from our kids could have been better
The room was just fine, clean and comfortable, but we couldn’t quite get past the overwhelming marijuana smell coming into our room for most of the night and into the morning. We did call the front desk and it stopped briefly however then when we would have liked to relax a bit in the morning we chose to leave due to more pungent smoke smell upon waking up. We felt that the situation could have been handled better by the staff. Unfortunately we wouldn’t stay here again.
My Stay At Comfort Suites Comstock Park MI
I recently stayed at this hotel (August 21 2020). This hotel has always been my got to hotel on my way up north for business. I have stayed from 1 to 2 times a year for the past 4 years. I have always been pleased until my recent visit. 1-They take a copy of your credit card and drivers license when you check in. I have never had that done before. I asked "do the copies get destroyed after I check out." Answer yes. That statement is false. They keep them for 30 days. Not good for me! 2-Make sure you lock your vehicle and park it in a well lit area. I went down around 10:30PM walked outside. Two cars sitting on the dark side of the hotel partying it up. Third car pulls up makes drop off and speeds off. 3-Mold growing along the floor against the tub. If you are heading north just go 30 minutes more and stay in Big Rapids.
Average stay
Hotel is high on a hill away from traffic - it's quiet. Room was clean, typical for a Comfort Suites. No breakfast other than grab and go - Covid. Other chains have figured out a way to serve breakfast. They need to think outside the box!
JOSHUA CHASE IS THE BEES KNEES!!!
Myself and two other co-workers were put up in this Hotel through our company. I have to say initially I would have given this hotel a 2 star rating and that was being generous. Upon arrival on 7/1/20 we were told we could not check in early until 12:00 pm ( I arrived at 11:51am) without paying an additional $30.00. After two long hours of travel I decided 9 more minutes wouldn't kill me but I needed to use the restroom and was informed it is out of order and guests should use the restroom in their rooms... the room I had to pay an extra $30.00 to check in 9 minutes early for. So, I decided to do the potty dance for 9 minutes until I could check in. After a painstakingly long 9 minutes I go to check in and I am informed that the room wasn't ready and wouldn't be ready until 3pm. Even though our boss called the day before to ensure we would get early check in as we had to be at work by 1pm. The older gentle man who claimed to be the manager on duty was unfriendly, unwelcoming, and unaccommodating. After, making a call to our boss he magically found 1 room (we were supposed to have 3 booked for all of us) so we could put our things away use the restroom and go. Fast forward to the next night when I formally met Joshua Chase. ( Side note I noticed Joshua the evening before as he made sure to greet me with a friendly smile and hello each time I passed through the lobby to go out for a smoke). As I am standing there casually perusing the OBNOXIOUSLY overpriced snacks offered in the lobby... ( $ 4 dollars for ramen noodles is ABSOLUTELY INSANE) he strikes up a friendly conversation with me about other more satisfying and reasonably priced meal options in the area. He informed me there were fast food options just a mile away open 24 hours if I had the ability to drive. After explaining to him I was exhausted and totally didn't feel like driving he recommended Mr. Pizza which satisfied all my needs for dinner (affordable, yummy, and reasonable delivery times until 3am). He made sure I had the phone number and all the information I needed to place the order. Then pleasantly let me know if I needed anything else this evening he would be here until 7am. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE AT THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE MORE LIKE JOSHUA CHASE!!!! ALL EMPLOYEES NEED TO LEARN FROM HIM, LISTEN TO HIS GUEST INTERACTIONS!! Thank you Josh for the 5 star customer service and making this experience better. Without you I would have spent 5 dollars on a bag of chips and went to bed hungry and poor.
Great place to stay!
The staff were so accommodating and polite! The bed was very comfortable and I would differently recommend staying here!! Special Thanks to Joshua Chase for checking me in and answering my questions!!
