Located just one block away from the beaches of the Riviera, the hotel was inspired by a story of love and named according to the view on the upper terrace all guests can enjoy during their stay. It is simply decorated with traditional Mexican style, to provide a comfortable atmosphere, complemented by the tranquillity of the sea a few metres away. It is one of the few hotels in Playa del Carmen that still honours the classic Mexican architecture, a detail that adds Mexican charm to stay with contemporary amenities, guest services and amenities.

My husband & I just visited Playa del Carmen & we stayed at this lovely hotel just steps from the sea. It was so nice to stay at a smaller hotel like Hotel Cielo verses the big hotels. It was a nice clean place & the front desk was very accommodating. We are looking forward to our return trip & our stay at Hotel Cielo.
Quaint place, amazing staff and location!

We stayed here over a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The location is obviously prime, as it's a half block from 5th Ave and one block from the beach. The staff were the best! Everyone at the desk and in the restaurant was pleasant, engaged, and incredibly helpful. They all remembered us from day to day, and really made us feel welcome and at home. I really can't say enough about the staff, they made the trip extra memorable. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. And though we both speak Spanish, don't worry, most of them speak English very well also. The room was very cute, well kept, and had everything that we needed (including a safe in the room!). We could also see down the street from our balcony, and had a decent view of the ocean and street. Having a restaurant downstairs was also very convenient, especially for breakfast/coffee. And the food was good too! A few things to be aware of: 1) Not their fault, but as of early September there is some construction across the street. It wasn't disruptive, but wasn't the best view. That will likely be complete fairly soon, and not an issue (wasn't really an issue for us anyhow). 2) It's very close to 5th Ave! That's a pro and a con. Close to the action, but also close to the noise. Again, it wasn't a problem at all for us, and you can likely lessen the effect by not having a room facing the street, as we did. After 11, it quieted down very quickly.

This is an adorable boutique style hotel offering an authentic taste of staying Mexico with an off the beaten path feel. Clean, convenient, and friendly staff so do not miss this opportunity to feel like a local. Beautiful roof top lounge that is a can't miss. Amazing reasonable priced Mexican restaurant below that my friends and I loved. Walking to shops, ferry, and beach. Easy access to taxis that will take you anywhere.
