Excellent except for an odor issue

The room had an off-smell, but otherwise the stay was great. There was an ionizing fan in the room so maybe theer had been a smoker or pet issue. This was annoying but did not lead to a downgrade. The free continental breakfast may have been a covid driven option but it was great. The room had a water view and large balcony on the backside third floor. The rooms with fireplace and tub give one a feel of luxury. the grounds are quite attractive too.
Jarring and poor experience at the Fireside

It's not the fault of the Resort at Port Ludlow, so I'm upping to 3 stars. Jefferson County has passed a law requiring Proof of Vaccination to participate in daily life activities, such as dining. The Resort at Port Ludlow is inside Jefferson County so must abide. However, the experience was jarring and executed poorly, if somewhat apologetically.
Maybe some form of give and take would be appropriate. Explaining the legal requirement, and then showing us the proof of vaccination for all the restaurant staff? I don't know. But being asked to see our papers felt both insulting and demeaning.
Given the proof of vaccination requirement in Jefferson County it is very unlikely I will be returning to The Resort at Port Ludlow. Which is a pity, because I proposed to my wife in the bay outside, and the Resort has always held a special place in my heart.
Both my wife and I are vaccinated, but providing proof breaks the spell of the Resort being a special getaway. It's like going to a Motel 6 where they have malformed hangers to prevent theft - it feels like we're untrusted and that we're somehow wanting to cheat or lie. I'd expect that experience from an one or two star property, but certainly not from a beautiful resort.
Again, I know it's not The Resort at Port Ludlow's policy, but the experience is so jarring and negative that I'd recommend just avoiding the property altogether and, instead, spend time at a resort that treats you like a trustworthy human rather than someone who needs oversight. I know this puts the Resort in a hard position, since they need to follow the law. I really feel for them. But when I'm going to experience a romantic getaway, I'd rather not be treated like a potential criminal.
I will, unfortunately, plan trips elsewhere until Jefferson County changes this law.
Nice enough place for a night or two.

We made the mistake of staying 5 nights. At check-in we were expected to make both lunch and dinner reservations for all 5 days, plus breakfast reservations on Saturday and Sunday. If you plan to go nowhere else, that's fine. But if you plan to explore the Olympic Peninsula at all, that's out of the question. There was no consideration for our extended stay. As a result, we had one lunch, one dinner and one breakfast at the hotel, although the continental breakfasts were available. (however, we frequently had to request things like plates, coffee, silverware). Covid-19 restrictions were in order, of course, so we had to request clean towels and in-room coffee refreshes. The bed was comfortable, but for some reason I woke up during the night, sticking to the mattress. Perhaps a Covid-19 plastic barrier over the mattress? Room had a view of the parking lot, but was otherwise comfortable.
Lovely stay! Worth the trip.

We stayed at Port Ludlow Inn for one night on our way to Olympic National Park. We had a wonderful room with a balcony overlooking the water. Our dinner at the Fireside Restaurant was delicious (reservations are needed though). The next morning we rented a 17-foot scout motorboat for a few hours (again, make a reservation) and really enjoyed getting out on the water. It was a highlight of our trip.

Two night get-away. Had a nice room, with a view of the water. Enjoyed the continental breakfast, and had dinner at the restaurant one night. It was very good! Nice marina store on-site. And a nice beach area to walk and enjoy. Close to Port Townsend. We drove there and walked through shops, etc. A beautiful area.
