Just Silly
Came here on a Friday night and greeted by a ridiculously over zealous approach to the COVID situation. If you lifted your butt an inch off your seat you had some silly bar-girl telling you that you had to sit down. Yet you could stand in the queue at the bar for 10 mins waiting for them to serve you a drink. Just sheer and absolute stupidity.
Earthy accomodation
This pub/hotel is down to earth but handy to everything. The waterfront is just a short walk away, the city equally close. It's a great PUB with a reasonable bistro so if you want something better then go and find it, There are a couple of hotels nearby. The venue has limited timeless parking which is a bonus. Go stay, have a drink and a meal, you won't regret it.
Macca (CRAP) Cheeseburger
I bought the Macca Cheeseburger because it was $1.00 dearer than the steak sandwich. I noticed a steak sandwich being delivered to someone's table, and it looked good. So I thought the Macca Cheeseburger would have to be exceptional, as it only would have a beef patty, and not steak on it. I couldn't have been more wrong. The whole thing literally was dripping with mustard and had about five big slices of Pickles on it. THe only taste sensation was mustard and pickles. I told the lady who cleaned the tables that it was disgusting, and the worst burger that I'd ever had. I'm not sure what the beef patty tasted like, nor any of the salad either, as it was all totally overpowered by mustard and pickles. BLAHHH!!!!!! Absolutely terrible!! My wife had the 200g rump, which she said was the best steak that she'd had on our two week trip. I tried a bit and the mushroom sauce. Both were really very nice. Next time ...................................
Don't expect to get any sleep
We had an internal room with ensuite. The room was clean with some peeling paint but not too bad, I did book a cheap room. The bed was really old and saggy. The staff at closing time (either 12 on a Sunday night or 2am on other nights) sounded like they were having a party dragging chairs around banging around and laughing loudly. Following that they reset the outside poker machines which also makes a lot of noise. The staff face to face were all lovely. The food in the bistro was absolutely amazing, the schnitzel was fresh and large, truly recommended.
Basic accommodation but it worked
Smooth and easy check-in process, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are basic and dated although do the job and are decent value for money, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean. Self service breakfast room was nice. Free parking which was great, great location, in the heart of town and right on the water.
