A small quaint hotel that suited us down to the ground. It is not a "modern" Hotel like its sister hotels Mango Bay or the Sands which we visited for lunch and reminded us why we chose a small quiet hotel. The food was very tasty and the Staff .Lamar ,Trevor and Ramon in the Bar ,Jeanette,Angela, Doris et all in the restaurant looked after us. The manager Ms B was very visible and available to talk to. Our bathroom could have done with a make over, but like all over the world this virus has hit the economy and its great they have survived. You are with in a 3/4 minutes walk of one of the nicest beaches on the island,Peebles ,linking on to Carlisle Bay beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. Quite a few couples were returners and I see no reason not to join them.
Friendly atmosphere and good location for beaches

Like the previous review, I was apprehensive about my decision to spend 9 nights at this hotel because of the negative reviews. To reassure anyone in the same position, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They are keen to resolve anything you raise with them. I had a slight issue with the room on the 2nd last day, and it was resolved 20 mins after talking about it. The atmosphere is calm and makes an ideal relaxed holiday. The menus were excellent, and I was never disappointed with the quality of the food. Negatives would be the number of mosquito bites from around the courtyard and pool. I guess there’s not a huge amount that can be done - just take mosquito repellent and you’ll be fine! The place can do with a lick of paint, I guess they are on catch- up after being closed because of covid. The look kind of fits in with the general style of Bridgetown. There were a few welcome visitors too, small birds and a family of green monkeys. I did a few small tours, but most of all I enjoyed swimming at the beach, where I could snorkel to the shipwreck in Carlisle Bay and also saw turtles most days. Seeing the horses swim around 6:30am was truly a sight to see! The hotel were renewing their WiFi throughout the premises, so you can now receive a signal in the rooms which is a great improvement.
Chilled Out Stay

I was a little nervous before arriving due to negative reviews we had read on TripAdvisor however they must have experienced a different holiday to mine. We had a lovely 2 weeks at Island Inn. We had booked a Superior garden room which is a large bedroom, bathroom with shower over the bath. Toiletries are provided together with tea, coffee, hairdryer, bath & pool towels. There is also a TV, ironing board and safe in the room. I didn't use the iron/safe or watch TV so cannot comment on channels offered. Air Con is very good in the room & excellent black out curtains means you have no idea of the time when you wake up as room is so dark. The rooms are a little dark - no overhead lights instead table/floor lights illuminate the room. The room also comes with a terrace with 2 x chairs & an airer to dry swimwear which is very handy. We were lucky to secure a fridge - tip speak to reception upon arrival to secure a fridge as not enough fridges for every room. The hotel only has 24 rooms which are sited around the pool, garden & restaurant area. It is nice to chat and pass time with other guests during the day - gave the hotel a nice community feel. I have stayed in a number of hotels and never have I chatted to guests so much as I did here. The hotel operates an la carte menu &the meal quality was excellent. 3 courses offered at lunch and evening meal with a choice of meat/fish and vegetarian option. Not once did I have a meal that I could find fault with. For breakfast there is an extensive list of items to choose from. No problem if you want something else on your plate or to ask for extra portions. The coconut ice cream is delicious. COVID did mean that some times they ran out of things but Barbados is an island and a number of items have to be imported. One point to note is that Bajan time is not like English time. You can ask for something which will appear but not always straight away. There is a very relaxed approach and nothing is done in a hurry. It takes a while to get used to - but keep an open mind, after all we are not talking 5 star service here. The Staff are lovely - Tricia, Toria, Sharon, Lamar, Tre, Richia, Ramone, Angela, Miss B to name but a few of the staff who all made our holiday something to remember. Covid restrictions were in place during our stay and a nightly curfew meant that the hotel bar had to close at 21:00. The staff simply doubled everyone's rounds on the last round before leaving to go home. Slight niggles but not major issues - The Wifi not available in the rooms - means you have to sit up near the restaurant area or hotel reception to catch up on your daily news. The room needs a little TLC - the bath needed replacing in our room - it was functional but the bath was cracked. Suggest a replacement or have a walk in shower instead of bath over shower. A few tiles have come off the side of the swimming pool. The pool area could do with a refresh - some of the paint was flaking away. Not major issues and can be remedied with a little outlay by hotel owner. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The beautiful Pebbles Beach is just 2 minute walk outside the hotel. Seeing the racehorses swimming in the sea is something I will never forget. Because of Covid, a number of bars & restaurants have yet to reopen. It is quiet in the immediate area of Island Inn, however a jump on the Reggae Reggae bus will take you to the more lively areas. The little Reggae buses will pick you up from the street - you do not have to be at a bus stop & it costs only USD 3 for a ride wherever you are going. Would I go back??? I most certainly would so please do not be put off by negative reviews. You are not paying for 5 star quality so why do you expect it?

Could there be 2 Island Inn Hotels??? Arrival reception - disappointing welcome - no offer of refreshment, keen to take payment of taxes, no information offered regarding the following; hotel facilities / where to locate Virgin Holidays information/folder... Room - Upgraded to Superior Garden View; Allocated Room 6 - Garden View?? No garden to view No privacy - the only source of natural light is via French doors next to neighbouring room 5, outside seating area Internally extremely poor condition; mould in bathroom all around the edge & base of bath, extractor fan broken, skirting boards bowed away from wall, broken electrical/telephone sockets, poor lighting - all lights orange?? faulty air conditioning - chose not to delve further to avoid additional disappointment. Housekeeping/Front of house service - no bathroom towels supplied after housekeeping, requested towels at reception 3pm advised " the laundry van hasn't been yet" returned 6.30pm requested towels again and waited at reception until they were handed to me Bar - mostly very slow service, no drinks/cocktails menu readily available, ran out of; Mango syrup 3-4 days, tonic water 2x evenings, mint (for cocktails) not available, vodka 2x days Bar staff rota 3x guys - 1x particularly slow, the others Ramon & Tre very good, friendly service Restaurant - attended mainly for breakfast & dinner only; food quality varied daily from adequate to good, extremely small portions on occasions, service very slow in general, front of house staff lacked interest with exception to 1x waitress; Sharon Example of lack of interest - bar closed at 9pm each evening as a result of the curfew - seated in the restaurant no staff available from 8.50pm - manager walked by at 9.03pm - I asked for 2x glasses of lemonade and informed the bar is now closed and locked.. As a result we had to wait until 7.30am the following morning for a chilled drink - unacceptable Overall cleanliness of general facilities poor - external courtyard seating area; dirty tables, cigarette ends on floor, seat cushions left outside during heavy rainfall and never replaced - often damp/wet Seating area far side of reception area - white seating cushions soiled. To summarise The hotel staff lack direction, no evidence of management guidance or interest. We would not recommend this hotel to anybody
Holiday of lifetime ended as soon as we booked in

What should of been a holiday lifetime turn into a average holiday firstly the room were given suppose to have a garden view more like waste ground even if we could see it but the blind was broken one look from wife and I knew we have to move so I paid for an upgrade over $650 we moved next day this room was nice but still had issues leaking water in w.c. from the roof so we got on with are holiday then the fun began an average wait of 40 minutes for breakfast nothing special cornflakes and toast after the first time I ordered a cook breakfast came out stone cold I sent it back and it came out hot but then it seemed how dare you complain so every meal they seemed a delay between courses as I said an average of 40 mins it got to the stage we missed meals as it was ruining our holiday, the pool had scum line around it and pavement was covered in mildew, the first week no gin second plenty of gin no tonic as you had to pay for bottle water so everybody was drinking tonic water the bar staff were great and so were the reception staff but the meal times was very poor, the food was lovely but when you got it don't complain as you went longer even for a cup of coffee or pot of hot water.if it wasn't for the great friends we met the holiday would of been a disaster.
