Old hotel in the middle of mid town Porto Alegre
Reviewed 4 july, 2016
Old hotel in a peculiar place in Porto Alegre. Not a pleasant and safe place to stay for business or with family. Reception is in the middle of 2 old buildings, with a popular shopping mall underneath. Rooms are not comfy as some photos shows. Spend 50 reais more and for sure you will be ok.

Quick Overnighter in Porto Alegre

Pros: It was not about like or not like. I will say the breakfast was very good. A broad array of choices. Which I enjoyed along with a couple of friends. Cons: They need a coffee shop. Location: There are small plazas, old buildings and lots of stores. But I was warned that you have to be cautious and look over your shoulder. It was not unpleasant. It was a place to stay, take care of business and move on. It had the basics and located at the entrance of a mall it made comfortable to find coffee shops and eateries. As they had no in-house service. Which was a bit surprising being Brasil. It is a lean service other than that I have no comment.

Money stolen from our rooms
Reviewed 30 october, 2015
The hotel wasn't bad at all. Good location, standard services, neat. Until one night, as we got back from work, my friend noticed his door had been broken, and about U$500 were stolen from his bag. When I checked my room, my door wasn't broken, but about U$150 were missing from a hidden pocket inside my bag. As I told the receptionist, he wasn't helpful at all. In fact he tried to make us believe we were robbed by someone from our group (we were all working together, and having dinner together when it happened). As the police arrived, he tried to keep them from talking to us, by sending them to the wrong room. The manager only arrived the next morning. We told them we were moving to another hotel. He was positive that the hotel would reimburse us for the 2 following days (we had payed in advance) and also for the stolen money, but it's been a month already and nothing so far. He never answers our calls nor the emails. We are suing.

Very Basic

This place meets all you basic needs in a basic kind of way. There is nothing flashy about this hotel anywhere but, it is suitable for large groups, it is clean, and they offer free wifi. The rooms are flooring not carpet so there is no sound proofing between you and the other rooms. You can hear the people around you or house keeping blaring a TV while they clean or talking on really loud radios. No one seemed to be bilingual at the front desk; this made communication difficult but, they tried really hard to communicate and assist us in every way. This is a good hotel for a short stays.

I stayed in this hotel with a friend. I found the hotel to be in very average condition and in need of a major refurbishment. The safe in our room did not work and we were nervous about leaving any valuables in it. The surrounding area is not very nice and possibly a bit dangerous by night so be careful. The best thing about this hotel is that it is very close to the historic centre of porto alegre and during daylight hours it is nice to walk near by and visit all the historic sites for photo opportunities. Try and stay in Moinhos dos ventos area instead.
