Lovely staff lovely hotel, lovely cocktails

Portus cale is fantastically positioned in Porto to get to where you need to be. The taxis are really good. We did have a bit of a mess up with the room as we were given a twin room instead of a double. We weren’t able to change this but we weren’t that bothered we just pushed the beds together. The staff at Portus are incredible and really made our stay. They were so professional and polite and also helped us track down a lost mobile phone and help us with any taxi or travel queries. Big shout out to Adrianna who was our bar maid whilst staying. She was so professional and we really enjoyed trying her variety of cocktails including a specially made lemon daiquiri which I could not get enough of!
Well priced, comfortable hotel

This is no longer a Quality Inn, and is now in private ownership, retaing the Portus Cale name. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Good rooms, but toilet too close to wall so that toilet roll had to live in the bidet! The staff are really friendly and helpful, and you won't get ripped off at the bar. The breakfasts are fine but unremarkable. Location is good for public transport. 45 minute walk to the river.
An average, reasonable value hotel

Selected this hotel to stay while attending a conference at a local 5* hotel. It was well-located, just an 8-minute walk from the Sheraton. The welcome was friendly and room clean. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows were less good. The bathroom was compact and a little tired - bath/shower was marked, toilet so close to the wall that it was almost impossible to access the toilet roll holder! Towels were ok. Breakfast was an extra €7 pp per day and was unremarkable. The range of cold food was large but largely unappetising and the scrambled eggs were at best tepid.
Clean and central

Room reserved by Airtransat was small and lacked place for clothing, in fact none at all. However, clean and well insonorized from street noises. Beds and pillows extremely confortable, the best I have seen anywhere. Good breakfast buffet included in price as well as internet and safe. 10 minute walk from Casa de Musica metro station. Several bus circuits nearby. Stayed there for 3 nights. Several TV channels , specially in French too. WOuld return.

Quite a lot of choice for breakfast, friendly staff and spacious room. Well located if you enjoy walking as is about 25-40 walk (depending on speed) from centre and a bit longer to the riverside. Several beautiful beaches within 1 hour walk too. We didn’t mind as we both enjoy hiking but there a lot of steep hills between the hotel and pretty much any area of interest so be aware! Very easy to get to from the airport. UK travellers beware as we paid in £ on the last day and the final bill when converted into € was £17 more than booking.com estimated (estimation changes every day too based on exchange rate). Just be aware that it may end up more expensive than you are expecting/ get Monzo or Revolut and convert your cash to € before paying!
