Very Good but Isolated

Domestic US Sheratons don't have a reputation for quality or consistency in contrast to international Sheratons. The Sheraton Porto definitely falls in the latter category. My partner and I stayed for four nights in mid-October, 2021 and used a combination of free night certificates and Marriott points to cover the entire stay. At first we were concerned about its isolated location on the fringe of Porto city center, but we then discovered that light rail (Francos station) is a little less than ½ mile (700 meters) away or about 10 minutes on foot. The neighborhood is also quiet and safe! The Sheraton is a modern high rise that seems most geared towards business travel. As tourists, we found the Sheraton to be comfortable with nice facilities and professional, friendly service. Pluses: --Sleek and stylish rooms and public spaces. Rooms are comfortable and quiet! --Fully equipped modern and clean fitness facility; rather small indoor pool more along the lines of a therapy rather than a true swimming pool. --Close to light rail, which mitigates the rather isolated location. Getting into the heart of Porto was quite straightforward. --Several banks/ATMs and an independent, drop off laundry service are close by. Minuses: --Not much to see and do in the neighborhood around the hotel. This means few dining options other than the hotel's rather overpriced dining room and the Crown Plaza Hotel right next door. While the Sheraton Porto is a perfectly pleasant hotel, from a tourism perspective, it's probably better to be closer to the Douro river and the city center.
Nice stay with friendly staff

Only two nights was not enough. Unfortunately we didn’t spend a lot of time in the Sheraton. The time we did spend was fantastic. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was plentiful and the lounge was nice and affordable. A bit out of town but lots to do and eat nearby with a trip to town about 5€.
What you expect from Sheraton

The hotel is very spacious with all the amenities you would expect from Sheraton. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is good. There are good transport links which are necessary if you want to explore the centre as the hotel is on the outskirts of the city centre.

I am coming for the first time to the Bonvoy Mariott group and in particular to the Sheraton Porto and I was very satisfied with my stay. The reception manager Mr Tiago Freitas was very attentive and met our expectations. Thank you again for the welcome it was perfect.
A very bland, tired, 4 star (at best!) hotel with unbearable traffic noise

I don’t understand the positive reviews about this hotel. Perhaps the positive comments about the “glass elevator” should have been a warning. This is a very bland, tired property where the only renovation budget seems to have been spent on the lobby and the lifts. The hotel is flanked on both sides by busy roads that are cobble-stoned…so there is constant loud traffic noise and the rooms are extremely poorly sound-insulated. It actually sounds like you are sleeping by the side of a highway. My room was so loud that I thought I must have left the window open…sadly not…just terrible construction. The traffic noise in my room was so bad that I was woken up probably 20 times in the night by the sound of cars/motorbikes/trucks/police cars….and I had actually specifically requested a quiet room so this was in a room on a high floor in the “quiet” part of the hotel. I can only imagine how bad it must be in other rooms. I was booked in originally for 4 nights but the experience was so poor that I checked out after 1 night. In addition, the hotel “spa” is also very old and feels more like a community swimming pool than a luxury spa. For this disappointing experience, hotel guests have to pay extra as well. Porto has lots of great hotel options…this just isn’t one of them. This hotel is damaging the Sheraton brand it’s so bad.
