Worst value for money in the island

Reviewed 18 august, 2021

Sold for 4 stars. It is unacceptable. My room was very very small. It was impossible to close the balcony and the door was absolutely broken and not insulated. The room is very poor in commodities and furniture. The bathroom is very cheap. A shower with a very cheap curtain in a room at more or less 300 euros per night is unacceptable. My Booking.com reservation had been "strangely" cancelled 2 days before the trip. I got the room just calling and calling. My suspect is that this is a normal practice for not paying the Booking.com fee and for not getting the customer review on the site.

Bad value for money

Reviewed 13 august, 2021

All in all, the hotel was NOT good value for money. Cannot be compared to any other 4* hotel I have stayed at, not worth €170 per night. good things: - pool area has cool views with pool decent size and up to 3M deep - On-site restaurant, tasty food and drink - Close to pounta port so easy to get across to antiparos, and bus stop to parikia outside - Nice room decor - Decent breakfast but nothing made to order Bad things: - Cleanliness not up to standard. Sheets stained upon arrival and had a damp/sweaty smell like they had been used. When changed new ones also stained, and new pillowcase had a sticker on it - Bad location. Nothing at all near the property. better off staying in antiparos so you waste less time at the ferry. Hotel is only a good location only if you have a car. If you want to go anywhere other than parikia by bus, you have to change at parikia. Taxis almost non-existent during high-season - Not one good sleep in this hotel due to noise. It is on a main road so you hear every bus, motorbike etc. And you hear guests go back and forth in the corridor and EVERY door closes as a slam. doors are very cheap, with the twist and click style handles you find in public toilets. Bring earplugs. - Communication from reception via Expedia pre-arrival left wanting. They took days to reply and need a nudge, and sometimes ignored it. I recommend calling instead. I asked about a car rental, and they told me that I could use their recommended provider, but should book in-person when I arrive instead of advance booking. But then there we no cars remaining when I arrived. Huge oversight, bad service. - They do not book taxis for you. They gave me two phone numbers: one is one lone driver so pointless unless you book in advance. The other number was an agency that was always engaged. - Poorly designed bathroom. Shower curtain does not reach the bottom and does not reach all the way round so water soaks the floor. There is a drain on the floor, but it takes hours, and you have foam at the surface which is gross. Shower did not have a holder for the shower head so you can only use as handheld. They installed a holder when we requested, but this should already have been in place - Very little shade available by pool. Only 7 parasols, which is way too little. All other beds are in sunshine, apart from 12 beds under a ‘slotted’ roof, which gives you shadow lines but helps neither those looking for shade nor sunshine - No mini-market nearby, you must get the ferry to antiparos to buy anything (incl. water) unless you want to pay high hotel prices. On arrival they told us we could buy water at €1 for 1L. This seemed a bit high vs other hotels but understandable. Later, the price changed to €2.50 for 1L (4x minimarket prices for single 1.5L bottles, or 10x for 6-packs). They said that they had to price water in line with the restaurant. If so, lower the price in the restaurant to €1. As there is no nearby mini market, you cannot drink the tap water, and we already spent €1,000 with the hotel, it’s bizarre that they try to make outsized profits on amenities like water, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth Lastly, Holiday Sun hotel will soon be rebranded as Selina. I document this for guests to beware in case they set up a new page to try to distance themselves from reviews like this. We booked this place because it was all we could find at short notice. I recommend finding somewhere else if you can.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Reviewed 11 august, 2021

terrible! hotel let go in every aspect. dirty and old but this is not the worst. restaurant and bar management are ridiculous. 5 kids who have improvised bartenders and waiters. spend the day eating and sitting. The first dinner we had to open the bottle of wine ourselves for the so-called waitress dressed in a towel on did not even know how to open. August 12th and they don’t even have an ice cream at the bar the last two of the previous year ended yesterday. ridiculous everything. do not even do the service in the pool because two meters would involve effort. to be avoided absolutely.

Very bad surprise , following a change of owner …

Reviewed 5 august, 2021

Came with the family, aged hotel, in a nutshell, the hotel needs a complete refurbishment…. Air conditioning doesn’t work properly in most of the rooms, staff is useless, they relax on the terrace while supposed to work, when I was there, they were doing some work , very noisily, as of 8 am in the morning, in August… Most of the clients were complaining about their rooms and service. Looks like there was a change of owner in 2021, and things are now a way different from what it was before …. To summarise: poor service, food average , rooms and hotel aged, very bad air conditioning. Good sides : close to the kite surf spot (800m), breakfast ok, but not something you would expect for a 4* though, beautiful view.

Not with the money, terrible experience

Reviewed 24 july, 2021

Stayed here with my girlfriend for a week, what a terrible experience. To sum it up: - big breakfast buffet but tasteless, eggs made of powder. Everything cold what should be warm. - waiters at the bar are screaming to each other and fighting - ants and flies are coming from the wall in the bathroom. - terrible smell in the bathroom, and hallways due to sewage problems - ancient shower with red corrosion bath, no place to hang shower- you must hold it - salt water pool; not so nice to swim in - Room not cleaned or they open the door at 9AM to clean, when you still sleeping, and even when we were going to check out they came at 9 again, which super irrelevant to clean. They don’t knock but just open the door. - They forget to give new towels and shower gel. - Public toilets not working(!!)
