More about the hotel
Good choice in a pleasant village
We found this hotel by chance while looking at a map and deciding where to stay that was close to a number of sights. The village itself is a good size and had a huge number of restaurants and cafes for its size, as well as a great little market on Sunday. The hotel is a pleasant 10 minute walk from the village centre, and had a nice outdoor area with a pool and lots of trees. Our room was comfortable, though the decor is a bit dated, and though we had a balcony, there were no chairs on it so its use was limited. Good facilities in the room, including a kettle and tea and coffee, and everything was very clean and fresh. Not the fault of the hotel, but over the road is a house that's occasionally rented out for parties. On our first night, the music was extremely loud and went on till 5am making it difficult to sleep. The hotel was apologetic, but there was nothing they could do, so take ear plugs just in case. Our second night was peaceful, and I think this is more the norm. All in all, a comfortable stay in a really nice location. I would have been happy to stay longer.
Great Location
Great location and value. Very friendly & helpful staff. The all round experience is always perfect and great value for money. We have stayed here many times and plan to return many times in 2020. Book with confidence.
clean, comfortable, quiet, convenient, friendly
Shower is small, but not much you can do about it due to building design (they said the building was converted from an older estate.). Never needed heat. The window does open and some rooms have small balconies. Nice landscaped property with good tennis court, larger pool (clean but cold in October), ping-pong, donkeys (in a fenced pasture), table areas, trees. Easy free parking and access to local towns (not far to Fontvieille, but no sidewalk). Back from the road, so stays quiet even in the front rooms. Clean and well kept. Nice natural light in the breakfast area, with a good selection for our 5 day stay (fruit, nuts, breads, jams, tea, juices, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, cold meats, sausage, eggs). Helpful desk staff in English and French (and said they knew German) gave good recommendations for town restaurants, local activities, and best routes (Arles, NImes, Avignon...). Staying in these cities might have been nice, but parking would be more work and we wanted to sleep in one place but explore many places. Nearby: Moulin du Mas Saint Jean olive farm, processing and gift shop (but no farm tour). We learned a lot about the site history, details of making olive oil, some tasting and buying.
WILL BE BACK
Quiet, relaxing, unpretentious place in the countryside, minutes from Arles, Les Baux and ancient windmills! Our superior room had a small balcony, a huge bed with high quality mattress, and beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. But what makes this hotel special is the grounds: beautiful pine trees, a great outdoor terrasse where one can have breakfast, and a big swimming pool (I think they also have a tennis court). The whole atmosphere is one of relaxation, in the middle of provencal fields, with 2 neighboring donkeys! The village is steps away (5mns by foot) and has several small restaurants, as well as a market. Best of all, they have a wonderful owner, always smiling and ready to help. All in all a great place to stay. We'll be back!
Excellent hotel for the price.
Here, we are not talking 5 star hotel for sure, but this hotel delivers on his promises. It's simple place but the place is nicely located in a very quiet area of Fontvieille, 5 minutes walk from the center. People are nice and very happy to accommodate the customer's wishes. There is quite small swimming pool, but it's there and the breakfast in the morning at the terrace is something very pleasant. I stayed there only two days on my way to the south but next time I will probably enjoy spending more time in this hotel more than acceptable to be a base for visiting all this wonderful area of France.
