Disappointing on many levels

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel in half board. At the price of 150 Euros per night, you would have expected good service, hot water and decent food. But none of that.
First: the tiny shower was at best providing enough cold water to shower quickly, at worst it was a tiny drip.
The staff was particularly careless and unwelcoming. Did not react when I asked for hot water.
The worst was the food: in the morning they would serve leftover dry bread from previous days. The breakfast choice was more and more reduced day after day. The supper tonight was a buffet disaster. The food was cold and worst than in a school canteen. You would have fresh chicken in day 1 and fried chicken (leftover from day 1) on day 2. Almost no cooked vegetables. Rice and potatoes being the main dish. You would not adventure to eat the fried dry salmon either. Desserts were terrible and they would again reuse yesterday's cake leftovers covered with a sauce on day 2. No wine or sparkling water available neither. A real disaster. The only positive: the hotel is right on the beach which is lovely. We are glad we left.
Sol Caribe our temporary address on Old Providence…

Sol Caribe Hotel is well located at Fresh Water Beach, on the quiet Old Providence west coast.
The beach is smaller than SouthWest and Manzanillo Beaches, also lonelier, perfect for relaxation, reading a book under a Coconut Palm Tree shadow, and swimming on clear, calm and warm Caribbean waters. The price to pay for such a quiet place, is the lack of beach services as chairs and drinks, I have to carry some plastic chairs from the Hotel, a small price anyhow…
The rooms were clean and comfortable. We got a spacious King bed. The air conditioning worked properly, night temperature was nice for our suntanned or toasted bodies. However, our kids room had a problem with the air conditioning, they were moved, next day, to other room. No problems with the hot water, as reported in some Trip Advisors reviews, although fresh cold water is better suited for the Caribbean sun.
The low note, as expected by Trip Advisor reviews, was the food. Included breakfast and dinner food were boring and repetitive, something to improve…

The staff was very helpful and informative. They helped arrange tours, rentals and reservations, and transportation. The room had a leaky air conditioning unit that froze and did not work. Wifi reception anywhere is terrible. Showers have no hot water. The food is below average.
GREAT LOCATION, GREAT STAFF

The hotel is very sweet. It is located right on a beach. The price includes half board. As a vegetarian, the options weren't great, but the staff tried. The staff on the whole were lovely. I rented a motorbike for about $35/day, and had a great time driving around, exploring the island. The cleaning of my room wasn't the greatest.
Beautiful Friendly place by the sea

Spent 3 days for a birthday celebration with long time friends. Requested sea view rooms when reserving and got 2 rooms just in front of the ocean, few steps away from the beach. The best this place has is it's people, each and every one is so friendly, they all made our stay unforgettable. We asked for a cake for our birthday celebration and they gave it as a gift, wouldn't let us pay for it.
Room was very comfortable, nice furniture simple but modern, had a balcony which we enjoyed early in the morning to see the sunrise.
Breakfast was very good. Full American breakfast with fruit, cereal, breads, juice, hot beverages and eggs prepared as we wished them.
It was a short stay but we will certainly come again. We really liked it.
Please keep in mind that people here go slower than other places, service is very good but slow, it's a place to relax and enjoy the scenery which is magnificent.
