We were an English couple, here for a week. The grounds are beautiful and impressive. Only a 20 minute drive from the airport. On arrival to the hotel , the reception area was chaotic and the man we spoke to told us we had to download the app to find out everything-neither of us could download it which presented a big problem for us as we had no clue what was going on or when, menu’s for food and drink too. We went to our room which we had upgraded to a privileged room which looked like it could do with a make over. The shower had hardly any water pressure and moved from hot to freezing very quickly. Our air conditioning didn’t work properly and we spent the first night sweltering at 27 degrees. We complained next day and were told someone would fix it. They never did. We complained again and someone turned up told us he’d fixed it but it was exactly the same. We asked to be moved which we were told we could be so we packed everything up and then we’re told we couldn’t. My husband tried phoning reception but they kept cutting him off, eventually he went to reception and finally someone listened and we moved to the next block. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The biggest problem apart from the app was that everything was in Spanish including the entertainment, it was difficult to join in or understand what was going on. We ate in all the A la Carte restaurants, they were nothing special, the steak house was awful, burnt food and poor cuts of meat. The buffet was usual buffet style with huge choices which get repeated daily in a different form, by day 3 it becomes boring. Birds fly all through the dining area taking food from the buffet area and landing on tables taking food off of plates. We both ended up with a bad stomach there. The beach is right by the hotel, it’s a lovely well kept area, the sea is the Atlantic tho and very dirty compared to the Caribbean. A lot of seaweed as you walk in. The cleaning wasn’t great here which was concerning, although everyone has to wear masks, I never saw tables being cleaned- don’t think there was time, huge queues for dinner every night. Sun beds were quite dirty and the area around the pool wasn’t particularly clean. A mixture of staff here, some were lovely -especially the young lad who collects the glasses by the pool, but others were very rude especially the lady in the smaller poolside bar. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Very nice Resort with well kept grounds, Lots of Palmtrees troughout. Nice Beach with Bar and Creperie and nice selection of Crepes(Pancakes) all day and friendly service. Beach has some seaweed issues at times but is being cleaned regularly. I stayed there for one week from Canada to relax with I did. Used Buffet only Restaurants with had excellent selection of good food so I could find lots of variety without having to eat the same every day. Wifi was excellent. I always tip the staff at a resort . Some staff is a bit too pushy for tips. Vendors at beach are not pushy and there are not many. However once a week they have vendors with booth set up at resort which were very agressive and almost told you what to buy. This should be corrected. Staff was friendly and helpful even though I cannot speak Spanish. Service at reception should be improved and seems disorganized to provide service required. Otherwise service was good to excellent throughout. Some members of the staff were especially memorable e.g. Celeste and Elvaris were always prompt and fast and friendly with their service, Kenia at the Lobby bar is very efficient and friendly. Paola/Guestservices helped me out and provided me with prompt much appreciated service. Room was very clean. Covid Sanitizers are placed throughout the resort and were appreciated. In all a terrific relaxing vacation. Hope to get back again. PS: Visited as a male solo.

Had an amazing week at the resort. The staff were so friendly and helpful, always trying to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was terrific in the buffet, the ala carte restaraunts and there is an amazing coffee shop in the shopping area that has lovely sandwiches and deserts to go along with wonderful coffee! The pool and surrounding area were very well kept and the washrooms were a nice upgrade. The people working in the lobby area were very friendly, happy and worked very hard and always smiling.

Had a wonderful week! Everything was perfect, from the pool, the lobby bar, the ala carte restaurants and the buffet. The people were amazing and tried so hard to make sure we had everything we needed. There is a hidden gem in the shopping area, a lovely little coffee house that has great coffee and deserts and sandwiches. The chill out bar by the beach was lovely. There were some upgrades done to the pool and the washrooms by the pool and they were very nice! The people were so very friendly and helpful, always smiling, they made us feel very good!

Catalonia Bávaro is a great resort! We had the best time at this resort. It’s a paradise on earth. I was happy to be there and the beauty of the resort is amazing. We had a great room and the pool was beautiful too. This is the 2nd resort that I stayed at and I loved it! I started jotting down some things to say for a review. So this may be out of order, but you’ll get the idea. We had some great service by very friendly and helpful people that work at the resort. Junior by the pool to give towels Vanessa our concierge Darling -bartender/waiter (guy always knew what we like to drink) super sweet too! Yertiz in the spa - masseuse - love her! Virgen at the exclusive club - super great lady and is honest with you. Angel in the photography studio. He and many other photographers took so many great pics of us. Of course we bought many of them! There are a few others but I don’t remember their names. Excursions are fantastic. The tour guides make the experience fun, on top of the fun you already have. Monkeyland is a must for those with kids or for animal lovers. You get to feed them, not touch them. They will climb all over you and sit on your shoulder or head. We loved it! We also went to the Caribbean Sea. Sauna (?) Island is a must. Where they take you, the water is crystal clear. We saw starfish from the boat. We swam at the sand bar. Best place I’ve ever been!! They also take pictures on the excursions that you can purchase. They are great pictures. The locals sell souvenirs too. You have to bargain with them to get a good deal. They are willing to negotiate. It is worth the extra money to get a privileged room. There are many perks included. There is an adult only side. I don’t know what they have that we don’t. Took a sneak peak at the Royal side. Pool isn’t as big and lobby isn’t full of the same things the family side has. I would stay on the family side again. Catalonia Bávaro is the family side. If you come to this resort or any on the Atlantic Ocean side, be prepared to come the right time of the year. There is so much seaweed - algae right now because of sargasso (?) releasing it all. It isn’t clear this time of year. Best times are February to May, this is what a lifeguard told us. Entertainment of the evening is at the stage area. There is something that happens every night. So much fun. There is a variety of entertainment. Sax player is great too. The best restaurant of the 4 is by far Rodeo. Steak is great with amazing flavor. Everything we had was delicious. I cannot say the same for the other 3. The buffet was the best place to eat. There is a variety of food to choose from. This foodie was all about the great food the chefs prepared. We loved eating at the buffet restaurant because of the cranes, ducks, birds and turtles all around us. The cranes are the watchmen of the restaurant, keeping the others in check. You aren’t supposed to feed the animals. However, you see ppl do it all the time. It’s not good for them. Lobby is beautiful, so is the rest of the resort. Doctor Ortiz at the 24 Hour Clinic was awesome! He exceeded my expectations. I work in the medical field and didn’t know what to expect from an international doc. He was very attentive and explained everything to us. It was far better than what going to the ER in the states is, on average. I recommend getting travel insurance, especially if you already have any health issues. We didn’t get it, our bill was over $450. However, the doctor will provide the report and bill so you can file a claim to the insurance, this gets emailed to you. I know this is for the USA and Germany. Not sure about other countries.
