The hotel needs tlc in places , the a la cartes we’re either full or not available as not open , People we’re reserving sunbeds before 9 am and that made it difficult to find a shaded spot especially on the beach or main pool. Great choice of food in buffet and Janet was amazing always greeting us with a smile , however we found there was a lack of organising amongst other waiting staff as quite often we were left waiting for water or drinks at meals. The whole hotel seemed to be struggling staff wise, the pool bars were only manned with one staff member yet were busy , the girls on the terrace were so busy as only few of them they either took ages to get the drinks or forgot what had been ordered because they were trying to serve multiple tables at a time . Reception also seemed short staffed as queue always was a half hour waiting even for simple enquiries. The lifeguards at main pool were very vigilant however in the punta cana pool not so much as there were people diving into shallow water and group of American tourists smoking and eating in the pool!! We had an issue with cockroaches, one in room and one in buffet but was dealt with very quickly . The fact only one coffee machine in lobby was annoying as it kept breaking down so unable to get a hot drink as no facilities in rooms for tea and coffee , and the safe in our room didn’t work . The beach itself was clean and beautiful if a little crowded and be warned vendors constantly asking but we’re ok when met with a polite refusal however I was very disappointed to see live animals such as parrots , iguanas and monkeys used for photo opportunities I feel in this day and age such cruelty to animals and birds is not acceptable. It was also a shame that the Bahia village had hardly anything open in it ! The vigilance over COVID was brilliant with signage everywhere, hand gel and mask wearing in restaurants, bars and on the land trains . Overall we loved the hotel and the resort and would happily return Well done Bahia Principe Grand for managing in these difficult times . We love your ethos after using two of your resorts and have already booked into a third later in the year Thankyou
Winter sun away from London chill.

My room was kind of dated but very spacious. Very clean and well stocked. Right beside a pool which most rooms are.( so many pools) I ate mainly in the buffet restaurant as it had all I needed. Service was very good, clean and comfortable. Right on the beach,
Definitely needs renovation, but overall ok resort

To be honest, I was worried about what to expect after having read the reviews here. My husband is the one who booked the trip and did not pay attention to it. Overall, the resort is average. It is for the most part outdated and lacks staff. The rooms especially definitely need to be updated. We didn't have any specific issue with the room. The only concern was that there is no air circulation in the bathroom so there easily was a smell of humidity. We just opened the window when we were there. There was definitely a lack of staff at all bars and restaurants. The staff is overall very friendly and they do the best they can, but the understaffing impacts the quality of customer service. Quite often, we had to wait 15 minutes to get a glass of water at the buffet. The line at the bars is pretty long as well. The quality of food was average and comparable to other all inclusive resorts we staid at. We did not like the restaurants at all (Il Capriccio and Tequila). The food is really no different than what you can find at the buffet, the only difference is that you have to wait for the waiter to serve you. What we didn't like at all is how large it is. It is a group of 5 or 6 Bahia Principe hotels together sharing some amenities. This makes it a very large resort. The resort is definitely not as bad as some reviews make it to be. But we probably won't be staying there again unless they do serious updates.
DO NOT STAY HERE
