Seaweed everywhere and won’t let you enjoy the beach. Dirty pool, my all family became Sick and I complained about it then they found a vomit 🤮 in the pool. The food was good but not that perfect. They tell you free WiFi when they sell you the room BUT the WiFi drops all the time to make you buy the premium which cost you lots money. They tell you room service available and when you call them on 13235 from the room phone they never answer you and when you go to reception to say why you not answering, they say we haven’t received any call. Well it happened I made a friend and paying him good tips and he told me if you complain and they write your room number and you will be ignored all the time. The train service every 5 minutes from Esmeralda to gate or anywhere. YOU WISH THE ESMERALDA team they always tell you to use other side of the building train to go to Punta Cana and tell them “please” to take you to the gate. I had to do that until the punta Cana drivers told me that the drivers in Esmeralda just chilling and making a fun on the guests and sending them to us to take them to the gate. Most annoying is when you want to lay down on the beach or the pool, even if you go 7am, it’s all reserved even it’s written “may not be reserved” but the hotel can’t do anything about it because the management team is very bad. People are waking up 4-5am to put towels and baby toys all over the sun-beds in the first row. Really annoying. Bars must open from 10am but the pinaclada never ready 👎 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Don’t waste your money and time. Spend that beautiful free time you have somewhere they appreciate you.

Avoid this resort

I want to start by saying I read most of the reviews and I thought some people were dramatic. Also being a Gold Privilege Member I thought I would have been more taken care of but they don’t care if you’ve been loyal or if it’s your first time, the service is terrible either way. The rooms were A1 although you have to put the sign on your door everyday if you want them to clean it daily but the buffet Jazmin TERRIBLE SERVICE. I have been a loyal customer for years and I have never received such terrible service. There’s always utensils missing, you ask for it and they never bring it to the table. Same with water and drinks you order, they never arrive and you find yourself having to go take water from THEIR machine and utensils from their station. They don’t even apologize they just give you an attitude if you get upset with them. I used to recommend the resort but it’s the last time I step foot in Bahia Principe Esmeralda who is no where near a “Luxury”. The tiles in the pool are poorly put together and it’s all falling apart. They workers are so slow and lazy. I always catch them walking very slowly and just standing in the buffet. Truly disappointed in this service and hotel.

Room was very good, cleaned every day.Towels changed daily as well. Lots a sea weed, and what’s washed on the beach they don’t clean on daily basis. internet not so good, main restaurant “Jasmine” needs emergency general cleaning…. Can not be call “Luxury” because nothing there is really luxury.Just a fancy word attached closed to a hotel name.. Overall experience is positive an d nice, my expectations weren’t high to begin with it.. So people go for it it is very good place and stuff, especially if you have smaller kids

Such a disappointment! Not what it once was! Luxury advertised budget resort.

Grounds well maintained and pool areas kept clean. However, it is not the luxury resort pre-COVID. For 10-day stay, we prerequested butler service before arrival and received confirmation. Did not receive it until day 6. Never received pillow and other luxury amenities as advertised. Bathrobes - no ties. Not even slippers or welcome gift sets. Should have had 10 al a carte meals, but was locked out after 6 (like all other non-luxury resorts in the complex). The system said all ala carte restaurants were full. However, when I booked through a friend who was traveling with us and had not made any dinner reservations, I was easily able to book anywhere for our remaining 4 days. ((Very slick, there Bahia, for locking us out with a fake excuse!!!)). Buffet food was fair. Much of it was recycled over several days, even building up the dry crust on top where it had been under the lights. An example was the Tuesday night Gala seafood night. For the next 4 mornings, they served leftover cold seafood on the breakfast buffet. Thus, there was a very very long line for the bacon and french toast. As far as service, the further up the chain the staff was titled, the more arrogant and condescending they were to international travelers. Housekeepers, wait staff, bartenders, etc. were always trying their hardest to serve with a smile. Notsomuch for executive staff. The perk of a daily catamaran or kayak at the adjacent surf shot? Laughable. My husband tried daily and was told to come back later because they book for paying customers and work in Bahia's when they have free openings. So that is NOT a DAILY perk, either. Our prior stay at this resort was for 8 days in 2019. It was magical. So much, that we considered moving to the DR when we retire. Now? We have no plans to return to Esmeralda. Ever. It has even slightly tarnished our view of the PC region. If you have never been to Esmeralda before, you may not notice the substantially diminished quality of amenities now. But if you have, you will. And you will be angry that you paid the luxury premium for the same quality of resort as the other non-luxuries surrounding Esmeralda. What was once an equivalent to flagship hotels in premier hotel chains, it is now a 2nd tier budget quality resort. If staying in Bahia, do not pay the luxury premium for this resort. You will not get what you paid for, but you will get headaches and disappointment.

Not a 5 star hotel

Reviewed 18 june, 2022

I stayed at this resort in June. I do not recommend it. It is cheap but you get what you pay for. The hotel seemed severely understaffed, which affected the entire experience. First, the hotel did not have our room ready on time, nor many other guests’ rooms. Second, I experienced poor service. Most of the employees were rude and seemed untrained for the hospitality industry. Bars and restaurants were very understaffed. The bartenders worked hard but at times there were one or two bartenders for a crushingly busy pool bar. I waited 20 minutes for a drink at the pool bar once. At the breakfast buffet, once I never received drinks of any kind, another time the waiter poured milk into my coffee without asking. It was sometimes difficult to get coffee refills too. The food was hit or miss. The Asian a la carte restaurants were quite tasty. The Italian one was pretty terrible. Buffet food was highly variable. The beach at this resort was excellent. There were plenty of lounge chairs and covered areas. The grounds were beautiful and expertly kept. Lots of lush tropical plants everywhere. This hotel is right on the beach, so it's a short walk to the beach. The pools were large and clean. The room was big but dated. It did not have many electrical outlets. I had to unplug things to charge devices. There were mosquitos in the room a few times. The shower door was partly broken. I had a good time overall but would not recommend this resort. I would say it is 3 star at best, definitely not 5 star.
