Grand Sirenis Punta Cana, 2021 Thanksgiving Wekend
Reviewed 29 november, 2021
My stay covered the Thanksgiving weekend 2021, 1. Excellent services and facilities 2. They wont tell you a no but neither commit, so you are left with the responsibility to follow up 3. Try to charge you as many times as possible for the same service, so, save all paper receipts 4. Food was terrible, i did lost weight, american 66 bad, brazil worse, italian ok, buffets good to avoid famine 5. Presidentes are draft, not as tasty as bottled 6. Medical clinic overcrowded, see item 2 7. Good merengue live music 8. Poor internet connection 9. Excellent spa 10. Dont use a travel agency, they wont commit to support you and will blame others for their mistakes and poor coordination Conclusion, not recommended for next year, administration needs to make changes to increase food quality in all restaurants tested in the resort
A very bad resort

Their is a list of items that we personally did not like. 1 No ride to the unit you were assigned to . Right front beginning. 2 Very long walk to the front lobby. 3 VIP treatment was not very good to our standards no trip back to your unit were they had pick us up. We had said no to their proposal. 4 No contact from the representative about are time of the covid test and how we are going to the airport and also the time we are going to be picked up. 5 The ocean had sea weed and also the shore line which we understand this was caused by a storm in the area. NO fault to the resort. 6 We see people coming together for fun and need to be treated the same way no matter if you are a VIP or a quest.
Exactly what we needed

My husband and I took our four teens and two of their friends here mid November. Overall, it was amazing. The rooms were tastefully renovated and spacious. We were always able to find loungers at the pool and beach. The variety of food at the buffet was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The water park, albeit a change from the safety standards we are used to at home being absent here, was well enjoyed by the boys. The cons- getting dinner reservations was tough. The lack of English in some areas was concerning as well. We had no problem using hand signals through 95% of the resort, but we were disappointed that at the pharmacy (where the Covid tests are booked and completed) no one spoke or understood a word of English. I feel like in a place where something as important as your health and international testing is involved, there should be someone who can communicate better with guests. We struggled with that in a big way, especially when the day of our departure, we still didnt have our test results back and had to struggle to get answers and our results. The only other complaint we had, had nothing to do with the resort, but is worth mentioning for anyone going to the DR. The following is a review I replied to an email request when we arrived home. Our experience at your airport yesterday was nothing short of pure hell. We have travelled extensively and have never experienced that kind of misery anywhere. There was such a lack of information at every point that when people arrived at the last point before moving on to departures, they were left missing things that could have been dealt with in one of the many other lines we found ourselves in. The bottleneck at the end was a direct result of the lack of communication and information between passengers and representatives of the DR. Your border services are understandably irritable and downright miserable because of the ire of passengers who have been standing in lines for hours and are told they don’t have what they need. I don’t know how many families we saw in tears because their flight was leaving in minutes and they were being told they were missing some departure form that was nearly impossible to complete at the airport because the reception was horrendous. We had to use a staff phone to complete ours. It took us two hours to get past customs with six children and when we finally did, we breathed a sigh of relief that we could finally feed them only to find our 4pm departure was already boarding at 3pm. We were then forced once again to rush instead of having a moment to recover from our brutal pre departure experience. After a rushed boarding where we had to show our PCR results at the gate inside AND AGAIN FIFTY FEET AWAY AT THE PLANE, we sat on the plane for 30 minutes waiting for our luggage to load. We ended our trip extraordinarily stressed. Something needs to be changed to avoid that chaos in the future.

A very nice resort for all ages. Everyone had fun. Super friendly stuff, everyone was very accommodating. Elithsbeth made all our dining reservations. Our favorite was Mediterranean and French. Alex from Amstar booked scuba and snorkeling excursion. We celebrated family member birthday in French restaurant, we ordered the cake and stuff was singing a birthday song. Night shows are the blast. We enjoy Michael Jackson tribute. It was a fun enjoyable week of vacation with the family.
Best experience I’ve had in the Caribbean

I’m a simple traveller : I want nice food, a beautiful beach and a relaxing paradise. That’s what the Sirenis is. It was even better than my expectations. It’s a big place, like a small village. You can walk a lot and discover many things. There are many included à la carte restaurants but we didn’t get tired of the main buffet, which has a different theme every day. The water is warm, and the beach is clean. Every morning, hotel employees pick up the seaweed. Keep in mind though that we went in November and there is very little of it at that time. Everywhere you go there’s staff cleaning stuff up so there you have it for cleanliness. I read some negative reviews before coming so I was wary. Let me invalidate them here : some people are insane. They travel to tropical islands and want the Ritz. You are walking next to lizards and coconut trees, don’t make a story out of the occasional ant crossing your path. Also, yes, there really was a 10 minute line to the pharmacy for the PCR test. I don’t know which country you’re from, but if you wait 10 min or less in Canada for anything medical, it’s front page news. The service is good, still expect nobody to speak English except for key people like reception. Hence it is not true that the staff is rude, it’s just that they don’t speak English well. Wifi is free and good, so pick up your phone, learn a few basic Spanish words, and you will see the staff open up. They are actually very happy and playful. Some people will try to sell you stuff, expeditions and the like. That’s the only minor negative. At least they joke around. On the other hand, I must say that I’ve been to many places where you have to tip all the time, and to me that’s the most annoying. Here it’s the only time I actually had to go out of my way to tip because nobody expects it. I normally don’t care about shows but the circus surprised us with young aspiring acrobats who did original tricks. There’s live music near the lobby every night and they happened to play our favourite songs so we got lucky there. We had a truly great time.
