Guys at the reception were so supportive and provided helpfull informations about free parking. They has such a passion and dedication for his work. Everything was perfect. Rooms are little bit old but cozy. Hotel Holt is located in the center of Reykjavik. It was in a great location to walk to all the shops, sights, and great restaurants nearby.

Wonderfully quirky hotel in a great location

Stayed for four nights here and it was definitely the right decision. Only a five minute walk into town, with loads of parking and set in a quiet part of Reykjavik, this hotel hits the mark. The welcome from the bearded guy at the front desk was lovely and he was super helpful with rebooking our activities after weather conditions threw a spanner in the works. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable and although they are a bit tight with tea and sugar, everything was just perfect for this short stay. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Place to Stay!

Reviewed 7 january, 2022

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Holt for 9 days during out trip to Iceland in December. This was our second time in Iceland, but our first time staying in the city in a hotel. Let me start off by saying that this was by far an amazing find! It’s a quick 5-minute walk to the main streets that are filled with shops and restaurants. It also had two parking lots which came in handy since we had a rental car with us. There was always parking for us. At first, I was a little turned off by the outside of the hotel, it looked old, but soon realized that most of the building in Iceland look a lot like that. I also learned that this hotel has the largest privately owned art collection in all of Iceland. There is art EVERYWHERE! The whole hotel gave off a cozy, elegant, vintage, 50’s feel. It was decorated with books, artwork, dark leather couches. We flew into Iceland at 6am and check in wasn’t until 3pm, however, when we got to the hotel, we originally wanted to just drop our bags off to be locked up and come back, but the gentlemen at the front desk allowed us to check in early without any additional charges and we were very grateful for this. It allowed us to take a nap and freshen up before Christmas Eve dinner. Once in the room, I immediately notice how clean the room was. The bathroom was spotless. What I loved about the bathroom was that they had full size shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel to use during your stay instead of the tiny bottles. Super eco-friendly, but also helpful if you forget to pack something. The rest of the room as spacious, the bed was very comfy with two separate duvets and plenty of pillows (the boyfriend was happy for these since I’m a blanket hog!). we had a beautiful view of the church which was nice to wake up to every day. All of those working at the hotel were unbelievably kind and helpful when it came to asking for local tips on where to go, what to do, and where to eat. They also updated us on the Covid changes that were happening in the country to ensure we were safe. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and worked hard to keep the hotel clean during this pandemic. Overall, my stay at the Holt was out of this world. I 1000% recommend this hotel for your stay in Iceland!

Nice Place

Small room but comfortable. It is difficult to have 2 people in the bathroom at the same time. Great location to restaurants, bakeries and shops! Friendly and helpful staff at the reception desk and beautiful artwork across the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Amazing from A-Z

I don’t even know what to say about Hotel Holt and the amazing staff. I stayed with them in November for 4 nights and every aspect was amazing. The hotel itself is gorgeous; comfortable, chic and the art work is lovely. It was probably one of the most elegant hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The location is amazing; walking distance to everything! Just a short walk down Bergstaðastræti and you’re at Skólavörðustígur, the famous rainbow street. I love everything Thai street represents. Everybody is welcome in Reykjavik. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe in this neighbourhood, and Reykjavik as a whole. I walked any time of day/night without issue. The staff were all incredible; so personable, friendly and professional. They were very helpful in terms of recommending places to eat or things to do in the city. Honestly, I was so sad to leave but will 100% be back to Iceland and will undoubtedly stay at Hotel Holt again.
