Great Location. Not so great breakfast

Reviewed 21 january, 2022

The hotel is in a great location, right across from Hallgrimskirkja and bus stop #8. Also about 1/2 mile from BSI bus terminal and walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. There are also plenty of scooters available close by if you don't like walking. I was disappointed with the "free" breakfast. Not really a breakfast at all. After the 1st morning, I went to Brauo & Co bakery almost every day which is only a few blocks away "cinnamon rolls are to die for".

Pros and cons

Reviewed 14 january, 2022

Pros and cons here, great location, great amenities around and the memorial is right outside, also the staff super friendly. When we booked for our mini moon/my 40th, we obviously looked at all photos and checked out the reviews which seemed great so we went with it. Unfortunately for my husband and I we are a little disappointed, we are not staying in the hotel which you see pictures of, we are staying in another part which is across the road, upon arrival into the building it’s pretty shabby, funny smell to it and there is a small table with tea/coffee making facilities on as you don’t get anything in your room, for over £100 a night I really would expect that and feels more like a hostel. Our bathroom is a tiny little wet room (this definitely wasn’t on the pictures) included in our booking was a “good breakfast” with food being so expensive here we always have a big breakfast so we don’t need lunch..we needed lunch today as the buffet breakfast consisted of a small plate of ham and cheese with about 2 slices on(I don’t eat either) no bread for toast so had to ask, and a choice of cornflakes or cereal hoops so that was abit disappointing as it wasn’t even near the end. Maybe The main hotel is a lot better which is why the reviews reflect that, but for us this building has a hostel feel to it which is a shame.

Great Hotel and Location

Reviewed 3 january, 2022

The hotel was in a perfect location for the New Years Eve celebration, which was the primary reason we chose the hotel. The hotel had a small balcony where we could watch the fireworks and stay warm or easily walk outside and come in and warm up if needed. The location was also walking distance to shops and restaurants as well. The room was sufficient but not much climate control options so our room was very cold which was good while sleeping but we were chilly at times as the windows were a bit drafty. The staff was friendly and helpful with out questions.

I’m a regular here

I visit Iceland frequently and when I stay in sunny Reykjavik I’m always in Leif hotel with the hostess with the mostes and Mr Örvar do behave! The rooms may vary but the reception is always great with an excellent breakfast selection. I’m already booking for next year.

Trip to Iceland

This hotel is in an amazing location. The staff are brilliant - especially Lenny. Who helped us book our excursions when we arrived and suggested places to eat and visit in the city. Rooms are simple but has everything you need - not like you’re going to be spending a lot of time in them! Breakfast is continental but a good selection. We really enjoyed ourselves :)
