A Hotel to Cheer

Had the opportunity to get back to Reston and see family in a bit of last-minute fashion and landed on the Sheraton Reston. Felt the fool when admitting I wasn't even aware of the property despite having lived in town for a few yrs. I'm glad we stayed the night we did and we will be back. As Ambassador Bonvoy, we were treated very nicely and got the chance to chat with the manager at check in; this is a staff proud of their hotel. And that's never a bad thing to run into. An admonishment: there isn't much here, outside of the nicely renovated rooms, other than the finalizations of ex-room renovations (some rooms are still being renovated) and a staff eager to get things going once its all done. There isn't an open on-site restaurant, some of the property is roped off, but I expect this to be a fun, neo mid-Century aesthetic (and it is quite pretty - and unique) spot for all sorts of corporate engagements should this world ever get back to normal.
Newly renovated and getting their sea legs

The Sheraton in Reston is the first hotel that was built in this town. It has been in dire need of a full renovation for years with prior half-measures not measuring up at all. This full renovation is wonderful and has seriously upgraded this property. The rooms a bit stark with minimalist decor and appointments but in a good way. Personally I'm glad to not have a huge mirror to look at myself lying in bed watching TV. The room has everything you need and nothing you don't. Bed was quite comfy, TV easy to use and bathroom has adequate personal supplies. The restaurant is not open yet but they are serving breakfast. We did not partake in that so no idea how that is. I was advised by the front desk that they hope to open the restaurant in the next month or so. The ice machines were not working but when I asked about a working machine at check out, the front desk zipped off to get my ice to take on the road with me. The staff is very eager to please, friendly and responsive. I am sorry that they no longer have a pool. I think it was one of the last outdoor swimming pools in the area. They have filled it in and it's a nice courtyard but boy do I miss that pool! Overall, they have done a very nice job bringing this hotel back to life. I wish them well and plan to stay there the next time I'm in town.

Misleading information provided about airport shuttle because there isn’t one. Booked room with a king bed, but they gave me two doubles. No bar or restaurant. Unfriendly staff. I would’ve tried to rectify the situation, but really not worth the energy.
