Lets see. Where to begin. The property had no parking. It was raining. We couldn’t drop the bags off because the street in front was for pedestrians only. Four blocks away, we made two trips to the hotel to off-load our luggage. Check-in was interesting because the front desk person was both absent and soon-to-be simply unpleasant.. The advertisement for the property said “Private Bath.” Indeed, it was …….. across the hall. I guess we now have to ask another question ……. “en suite” ? Not a “shared bath” ? In fact, the bathroom as too small to swing a dead cat. The fuse blew while there and the front desk person suggested that we had overloaded the circuit - which we hadn’t. The room was clean and convenient (except the fuse). Breakfast was to be on the top floor (the view) for 17 Euro’s each. Unfortunately, it was closed (a voucher) would be given. However, I just say the thing about this property was the coffee machine. Free and excellent coffee. However, we won’t be back.
Great place to stay

no staff and locked front door

I had booked and paid for 1 night arriving lunch 2 July and departing 3 July and the hotel had confirmed as I had had questions regarding covid. Upon arrival the front door to the hotel was locked, some numbers where listed and none of them worked. I walked into several shops to ask for help. At some point a lady came out and I snug in and inside there was a different number. After like 10 minutes a women came and then I had to wait another 20 minutes for a key. They refused to acknowledge that I had paid for breakfast and why? because there is NO breakfast room. In fact there is not a single staff anywhere in the building. Next day the elevator floor was still sticky from floating beer. There were no staff for check out. Only positive was the room was clean and the location great but venue need to sort out entrance, check in and staff.
Here’s what they won’t tell you

A staggering lack of hospitality. Arrived at 9:30am. No staff on premises. Front door locked. They didn’t tell us this (website said it would be staffed 8-12am). No key code. Called main office more than 12 times in 90 minutes. Each time was told they would call right back, or « the manager is on her way » , or « just leave your luggage in the lobby. » (Uh, no thanks!) Finally meet the « manager » after 2 hours of standing in the street. Olivia took us to the room. To get there we had to take two elevators and walk multiple corridors. Turns out the room we were in was in a separate building which was still under construction on the ground floor. (Who opens for business when the access is still under construction?) So there was no way to get to it without a 15 minute journey. This was also not mentioned when we booked the room. The employees seemed totally unfazed by our frustration. But when we saw other guests sitting in the lobby with their bags, enduring the same treatment day after day we realized this was just business as usual. Unfortunately they don’t care if you have a lousy stay because they figure there will always more people (suckers?) coming to Iceland. No housekeeping. (On the fifth day a random stack of towels appeared in our room.) Coffee machine broken. No security in lobby. (Navigating the drunk partiers stumbling in and out of lobby at 6am was not on our vacation bucket list.) Filthy elevators that stank of beer and vomit. Throughout our trip we found local Icelanders to be incredibly helpful, meticulously forthright, and passionate about hospitality. This place was the extreme exception that made us appreciate all the amazing people that we encountered. So that’s one upside?
Do not stay here if you’re looking for a hotel

Terrible. Do not recommend. Cons: 1. Horrible check-in. There is no receptionist or staff at the “hotel.” When you arrive, there is a code to open the door - a code that is not given to you when you book. You wait until someone leaves the hotel to enter, only to be greeted by a sign to call a number. See pic. You call the number and they tell you that a manager will arrive “shortly.” Two hours and multiple phone calls later, someone named “Olivia” shows up and says there must have been a “miscommunication” with the phone service. She hands you the card key and tells you to switch elevators to get to your room. There is no one to take you to your room 2. No housekeeping service - even if you stay for a week. 3. No air conditioner 4. No hooks in the bathroom to hang any towels. And did I mention, no housekeeping. 5. No hair conditioner. And tiny bottles of body wash and shampoo only. And no service to replenish your toiletries. 6. The hotel is across the street from a bar - and with 24 hours of sunshine in Iceland in the summer, you have a loud rowdy crowd all night…windows are not soundproof 7. Rooms with a balcony have no dividers/barriers between the rooms. Pro: 1. Heated floors 2. Good location - but see note above re: bar If you want anything resembling a hotel, do not pick this place. If you want an AirBnB with no kitchen and no services at all, consider this place
