Refund
Stayed there for 1 month all was good. Staff friendly breakfast was good but still waiting for my £60 refund .was told on checkout they over charged me by 365 real £60. They said will refund me the next day .why they could not do it straight away is a mystery. 10 days later and after 2 phone calls still no refund. brilliant
After reading some very negative reviews on here i was a little worried, well i can tell you i was very relieved to find all the negative comments so wrong. We were greeted by very friendly hotel staff, the bell boys approached our taxi and collected our bags.Check in was very quick and we were taken to our room. The room was more than adequate and very clean. The only point made that i will agree with it's more 3 star than 4 star. The reception staff were lovely and friendly spoke perfect English and nothing was too much trouble, they were extremely helpful. Some bad comments on here regarding the buffet breakfast saying it was the same every morning.Let me just say i don't know what some people expect each morning for breakfast, maybe an a la carte menu who know's,but i must say there were plenty of choice each morning with lots of fresh fruits, pastries different breads cereals, sliced meats and cheeses pancakes and waffles. Our room was cleaned each day and the towels were changed daily. All in all we had a lovely stay at the Americas Copacabana and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and reception staff for such a lovely experience.I would recommend the Americas Copacabana to anyone
Clean and secure
Very comfortable place, near to copacabana beach (3 blocks aprox), and typical food places. it has pool, gym, wifi, A/C and a great rooftop view (Cristo). Our booking included breakfast (buffet, with a variety of typical fruits that we joyed a lot). I recommended this hotel for a couple trip.
Nice Hotel , terrible front desk service
The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are typical Brazilian, small but modern. The elevators in this property were some of the smallest we have ever seen and one was constantly out of service. If you had a few bags you had to wait and wait for an empty elevator. We arrived a little early for check-in( 3:00) at around 2:00 hoping for early check-in. That seemed impossible for the front desk and we were told to wait till 3:00. We waited in the lobby and other guests arriving after us were checked in before us? It was extremely annoying. Around 3:30 we were motioned by the front desk we could check in now, after they had checked in about 10 rooms to people who arrived after us. WTF. They also offer car parking at 35R per day which seemed reasonable but we were told upon arrival that they had no space and were vaguely motioned to a nearby car park at 90 R per day. I just left our car in front of the hotel on the sidewalk in front of the hotel for about 1 hour while we were waiting to check-in and surprisingly they found a space in their parking garage. this was after they parked cars for people who arrived after us but were checked in before us. That being said about the front desk ineptitude , the hotel was nice and the rooftop pool and bar area were good , although there was a scum line around the pool ( let's clean the pool people) . The included breakfast was surprisingly good and the hotel location was very good. we might consider staying there again due to the location but would also consider other properties with better front desk service.
Do not be fooled by the 4 stars
We spent a full week at this hotel, and I did not sleep well a single night due to the noise from the minibar and the air condition. The bed was very comfortable, but also made a lot of noise when you moved around on it. The rooms are really small - you will have to use all of the available floor space just to open your suitcase. The wifi is so bad that we weren't able to use it for anything but text based surfing throughout our stay. When I complained about the speed, I was told it was slow because the hotel was fully booked.. Poor excuse. We were also asked to wait for 45 minutes to check in, which is a really long wait. The receptionists were mostly really rude and arrogant as well. We left behind an envelope for two of our friends at the reception, and when they came to pick it up, the staff first pretended not to know anything about it, and were rude to them as well. They got the envelope in the end..
