Good but not worth the price

Reviewed 5 january, 2023

Staff is great, food not so good and expensive(65,00 Brazilian reais for a one person breakfast ). Great view for New Year fire works. Be careful with city tours found in leaflets in the reception, it is not managed by the hotel and you can end up having a really bad experience! My wife and I booked of the tours ( Arraial do Cabo)1 day trip including a boat trip in it and visit some beach’s and see some landmarks, price ? 570,00 Brazilian reais, what we got ? 10 hrs Bus trip ( Rio de Janeiro - Arraial do Cabo ) 6 hrs to go and another 4 hrs return, travel from Arraial do Cabo to one really busy beach by a very old taxi on a road full of holes and big stones, dust, no air con. , lunch was also included which became almost a dinner because it was served around 5:30 p.m, we arrived back it the hotel after 11:00 p.m ! No money was returned or weren’t compensated for the fail !

Location is good and that is it

Reviewed 2 january, 2023

This hotel has good location and that is it. There are good people staff to help you with luggage. Front desk are terrible. Food is not good. Room is very simple, but functional. Very expensive and just it is not worth it. Try to get a better hotel, even if the location is not that great. I was leaving to airport and staff got desperate, thinking I was trying to scape without pay my bills. Unbelievable !

Dirty, in disrepair, and will try to overcharge you

Reviewed 1 january, 2023

Stay away from this hotel. We booked one of the "best" rooms-a corner room with panoramic views of copacabana-for several nights including New Years Eve. Upon arrival, even though I had booked a double room for two adults, the reception told me there was an additional charge of $180USD for having two adults in the room. Yes, even though I had booked a double room for 2 adults, they charged me extra because it was New Year’s Eve and I had no real other option. Absolutely predatory. It gets worse from there. When we got to the room, the bed had been made and the towels in the bathroom had been folded, but the floor and bathtub had hair and sand that had not been cleaned. The safe was broken, and even though we called to request that it be repaired at least five times and were told that maintenance would be there, no one ever came. The tv in the room was also broken. So was the hair dryer. This hotel is old and in clear disrepair, but that would be forgivable if the staff had put in even the most basic effort. Instead, As a final attempt to rip us off, on check out, they tried to charge us for items from the minibar, but we never took anything from the minibar. It was literally untouched and all still sitting in the room. After we disputed the charges, the front staff ended up giving us a "credit" to account for the minibar charge, making it seem like they were doing us a favor. Long story short, don’t stay here unless you want a dirty room with broken stuff, and are willing to pay whatever random extra charges the front desk decides to try to scam you with. But hey, the view and location was incredible (which is probably the only reason this place is still in business).

A very accessible, clean and safe hotel with great services in the heart of Rio de Janeiro

Reviewed 26 december, 2022

My wife and I stayed at this first-class hotel on Dec 6-8, 2022, as part of an organized tour. We stayed in Room 509, a superior room, overlooking the nearby, famous Copacabana Beach from our window. If we had to come back to this vivacious “sun and fun” capital of South America, we’d definitely stay at this hotel again for the following reasons:  Accessibly located to Rio’s attractions, including Corcovado Mountain (where the 125-foot-tall famous Christ the Redeemer Statue is located, designated as one of the seven “New Wonders of the World), and Sugar Loaf Mountain, the symbol of the city, where we viewed the stunning panorama of the beaches, Corcovado Mountain, downtown Rio and Guanabara Bay.  Accessibly located to money exchange, grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants, newsstands, and shopping malls within walking distance from the hotel.  The hotel is highly equipped with the latest safety & security equipment and services.  We enjoyed the following complimentary amenities in our room:  Spacious room with modern furniture and furnishings  Spacious, modern bathroom, with bidet  Spacious Safety Deposit Box  Free Wi-Fi connection  Mini Bar/Mini Fridge ($)  HD TV  Each room has its own climate control panel which is easy to adjust  Full room services  Wakeup call  Electric kettle (upon request from the front desk)  The hotel offers the following complimentary amenities and services to its guests:  Complimentary, good buffet breakfast served on the ground floor restaurant  Gym, small swimming pool, bar & restaurants ($) at its Terrace top floor, where you have a good view of the city and Corcovado & Sugar Loaf Mountains on a clear day  Free chair using the Copacabana Beach  You can exchange your US$ currency into Brazil Real currency at the Front Desk without service charge  Very friendly and helpful front desk staff, who speak English  The hotel provides the following services with charges:  Mini bar inside the room  Restaurants & Bars  Laundry & Dry Cleaning  Medical Services (contact Front Desk)  Beauty Parlor & Hair Dressing Tips:  Rooms with a good view: Facing the Copacabana Beach.  While the tap water in the room is safe to drink for the natives, use it only for brushing teeth. Otherwise, drink bottled water, easy to purchase from nearby grocery store and newsstand. On an emergency use the supply of bottled water in your room mini bar ($).  The hotel does not normally provide tissue paper and face towel. You could request them thru the Front Desk.  Rio has 220V electric current. If you need adaptor and stepdown transformer to use your personal devices in your room, you may borrow them from the Front Desk.  The room maids do not speak English. If you need any services in your room, speak to the Front Desk, as we found them very friendly, considerate, and helpful. I hope the above review will be of interest and help to future guests of this hotel. Romeo R. Fernandez Toronto, Ontario Canada

This was a great spot right off the beach. The room was large with a great bed. All staff were extremely helpful. The morning breakfast was well worth the cost. Many great places too eat nearby. We would stay here again.
