Westin DTW Park and Fly - No brainer

Reviewed 10 january, 2022

Cannot say enough about our Park and Fly stay at Westin DTW. The service was impeccable. We ordered room service due to Covid and not wanting to go to the restaurant. Delicious! (But pricey). The room was so comfortable…Not exactly the “ Runway View” requested but soooo comfortable! (Could see the boarding areas not the runway in the terminal if I pressed my face to the window, then looked to the right.) Upon our return, I texted our valet claim ticket number to the valet desk and our car was waiting for us…running and WARM in the early January afternoon. So convenient. So simple and easy. The only thing to do at DTW for a morning departure.

Staying with a Pet

Reviewed 29 december, 2021

We called weeks in advance to confirm that we would be able to stay with a small dog and were assured that this was a pet-friendly hotel and that everything was arranged for our stay on our reservation. When we arrived, check in went smoothly and the employee at the desk acknowledged that we had the dog and was pleasant and professional. Upon check out the next morning, however, a different employee was working the desk and rudely harassed us about having the dog, an 8 lb lapdog quietly sitting in an airline approved carrier securely attached to our suitcase, asking if we were able to carry it (which was odd) and insisting that there was no note on our reservation that we had a dog. It seemed like there may have been some internal miscommunication among employees regarding whether a pet should be noted on a reservation and what room guests with pets should be assigned after discussing it with the manager, and the manager assured us that they would review the policy with employees. Unfortunately, the rude and disrespectful attitude of the employee working the front desk regarding the situation is still inexcusable, so if you would like to be certain of a smooth stay with a pet and reliably courteous, professional customer service, I would have to suggest staying elsewhere based on our personal experience.

Best location at the airport however overpriced

Overpriced. Great location inside the McNamara terminal however you pay for it! Very convenient if you want to avoid a shuttle. Nice bar restaurant. The casual food was good. My Expedia reservation was supposedly cancelled and they were sold out but after Expedia called them I got a room. Front Office supervisor was very accommodating. Other front desk staff not so much…

The only reason for staying at this particular hotel is it is located within walking distance to the Denver airport. Which is a bonus providing you are not transporting luggage and pushing a wheelchair. It should be a Cat 5, not a Cat 6. Room is comfortable enough but eateries are limited and expensive unless you are willing to walk into the airport. Not much to do unless you want to hang in a bar and drink.

A perfect experience

I can't praise this property enough: our accommodation - King runway view with a sofa and a view of the tarmac and airplanes) was just right. There was enough space for two, I could even do my stretching exercises. The bed was heavenly. Because of Covid restrictions at the airport, we had to have our meals in the hotel, but that wasn't a bad idea : the food was very good, as were the drinks. And abundant : we finished our breakfast food at noon :-). Best of all, however, were the staff members, who were so nice, competent and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant/bar to the housekeeping staff. If you are leaving from or arriving in Detroit and need a break from the rat race, this is your place. We stayed there on both legs of a trip from Paris and it was a life-saver. One caveat: the hotel lobby-cum-restaurant area is drafty as it is basically a giant atrium. Have a warm cover with you if you are eating in the restaurant or bar. Bravo Westin DTW!
