Sorry guys and team of VD Valk Rotterdam Blijdorp, your team is super friendly and willing to find solutions, no bad word regarding the staff. The hotel is, compared to, other VD Valk hotels, like Ridderkerk, Zuidas, Assen etc just ‘staying alive’. Old, smelly, worn. The rooms need an update. After talking to the front desk manager we got an upgrade to a slightly bigger and slightly less worn room but for sure, this hotel needs a fresh-up. Sigarette burns on sink, stains in carpet, worn furniture, bedmatrasses with a dent etc. Again, staff was absolutely nice, just the material they have to work with is not. The building itself is nice, great architecture. Compared in pricing: not worth the Vd Valk Price they charge now. Management, hope to see improvements soon. Thank you staff, for your service.
Overall good hotel experience, but...

We stayed here with a group of travelers. Many were kids under the age of 15. Overall it was a good hotel experience. The rooms are a good size, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Bathrooms are as well. The restaurant/bar was excellent (Saeed is the manager of the bar at night and he is the best customer service focused person I have ever seen in the food industry...he ROCKED!). I would have given 4 stars if this hotel had a workout facility that you didn’t have to pay for. There is a gym next door (like 1 minute walk) that costs 12.50 euros for a day pass. I would have given 5 stars if the customer service with the staff at the front desk was better. The management would only give 2 towels per room per day and charged 2 euros for lost key cards. This is an odd policy for any hotel based on my experiences. I had to argue with Martin (the night supervisor) one night to get 1 additional clean towel. This is not a customer focused position. Other than that, it was a good experience. If your looking to be close to the city center, don’t stay here.
Rooms are great, but too much noise from restaurant area

The hotel is not in the town center, and has sufficient parking - a few free spots, the paid area is still very reasonably priced. The rooms are all around a central open space, with the bar/restaurant at the ground level. May be nice for the looks, but staying on the second floor, you can only hope the guests in the bar are not too noisy as the acoustic isolation is poor. The room itself is OK, the style is a bit too much red color for my taste. The bathroom has all you need, including a good shower. Breakfast offers sufficient choices, and plenty of space What is not so: missing iron/iron board, and a water heater to make coffee/tea look disgusting (black parts - I assume burned detaching parts of calcurous layer on the heating elements) float in the water...

Stayed for 2 nights. Night one I was was frozen, nothing would make anything but cold air come out of the vent on the wall. I reported it in the morning and was assured it would be fixed .... night 2 - still cold, no change. Also, tea bag / room refreshments had not been topped up so I had to go and ask for more tea for the room. Final thing - why wrap plastic cups in plastic? Unnecessary over use of plastic! I opened one and used it on the first night, I would have been happy to reuse it but on night 2 I had a fresh one wrapped in more plastic!!!! And, the soap that came in a box wrapped in plastic, I opened and used for night 1, but for night 2 it had disappeared to be replaced by another one? Why? What a waste. On the positive side, nice comfortable and clean bed

Stayed for 5 days at this hotel. Room was clean,quiet and quite spacious. The only negative point was the absence of water bottles in the room and the empty fridge, so I had to get water everyday from the vending machine in the lobby. Breakfast was adequate. The staff was very helpful especially Elise and her colleague who went out of their way to help me when the zipper of my travel bag got broken. I will surely come back to this hotel!
