Sleep Inn did NOT honor Priceline Reservation

Reviewed 31 october, 2021

We booked a hotel with Priceline months in advance for the Formula 1 races in Austin, TX - We got the SleepInn in Round Rock, TX. We printed out all confirmation info. and had it on our phones & even received a "time to check in" reminder from Priceline! When we got to the hotel (Sleep Inn) day before the race we were told they had no reservation with for us and no rooms available(We had 2 rooms booked with them!!!) - We showed them the confirmation information and they would not accept it saying it was with Priceline. We called Priceline and they called the hotel - still would not honor reservation - after many hours on the phone back and forth with customer service Priceline was not able to find us another hotel room anywhere & we were in Austin for the races without a place to stay! Priceline refunded our money for the hotel - We had to spend hours calling hotels/motels ourselves and ended up staying in San Marcos, TX paying $394 per night/per room for a Holiday Inn! We were not compensated by Sleep Inn nor Priceline. ALWAYS BOOK HOTEL ROOMS DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL - AND CALL HOTEL TO CONFIRM BEFORE YOU LEAVE ON YOUR TRIP. DO NOT TRUST PRICELINE! - Bottom-line we found out is that hotels do not have to honor Priceline reservations!

Good, but 35 is truly loud

Reviewed 27 october, 2021

This was a nice hotel, good beds, good location. As some other reviewers have said, I-35 is seems like either the windows are not double-paned or maybe there's no (or not enough) insulation around the windows or a/c unit. But whatever the reason, nighttime 35 traffic is really will (or can) wake you up and then it's not easy to get back to sleep hearing it. My advice is get an even numbered room (210 instead of 209, for example) because then you'll be on the side of the hotel that doesn't face the highway. Also the window a/c unit is really loud when it runs...but in our case that was good because it drowned out the noise from I-35, which helped our kids sleep (and stay asleep). Breakfast was quite nice, cute Texas-shaped waffle maker and donuts from Lone Star (although that only happened one of the 4 days we were there). Pool was a little heavy on the chlorine and hot tub was about 5 degrees too hot (probably set for like 107 instead of a more enjoyable 102). Staff was friendly, rooms were modern/updated enough...would definitely re-stay, just on the other side of the building.

Stay here ONLY IF you agree with this practice

Overbooking is nothing new; of course covid added a bit of uncertainty that makes it a little harder for hotels to predict the cancellation rate, but still, you are in the hotel business and you should know better. This is how this hotel deals with overbooking - the front desk looks at your reservation made months ago (obviously at a much lower rate comparing to the more recent reservations), and decides they are not going to give you a room. The problem is what they tell the guests “Sorry I cannot find you reservation. This happens sometimes.” I made the reservation on TripAdvisor (TA) over two months ago. After the front desk told me they “cannot find” my reservation, I turned to TA for help. TA helped me figure out the truth (overbooking), and learnt that I’m one among the at least 30 overbooked reservations. TA continued to attempt a resolution with the hotel but obviously the hotel is unwilling to cooperate. I have to make bookings last minute at $600+ per night as almost all hotels are sold out. So many people are in town for the first COTA Formula One since covid. I travel a lot and stay at 15-20 hotels every year within the US and internationally, but this one prompts me to write a review after so many years. It’s not the first time I’ve been in this overbooking situation but the hotel would always be honest, apologetic, and willing to find an alternative accommodation at no cost or even with compensation. Not “I cannot find your reservation and this happens sometimes”. Very lame excuse. If you actually get to stay here it might be a great budget hotel. But only if you are okay with a hotel that cannot honor its reservation and chooses to lie.

My fiancé and I came to Austin for the Formula 1 race all the way from Miami. We booked our reservation with Priceline 2 months in advance at a very economical rate. When we arrived at Sleep Inn the front desk tells us they’re no reservation under our name, even with the confirmation number they said that there’s nothing they can do and to give Priceline a call. To find out that there was another family dealing with the same situation. It is obvious that Sleep Inn decided to cancel our reservation without letting us know so they can sell their rooms at a higher rate since it’s such a busy weekend. Now my fiancé and I are in Austin with nowhere to stay because either all the hotels are booked or have a rate of $900 a night. On top of all of this, the front desk showed absolutely no compassion and was not apologetic at all. It’s absolutely ridiculous that such a known hotel brand lacks such important hospitable skills or any form of human compassion for that matter. This place is absolutely horrible and I’m honestly traumatized. Save your money and time and don’t ever book with this hotel.

35 is LOUD And no hot water on 4th floor

But the staff was SOOOOOO NICE. I SUGGEST THEY GET BLACKOUT BLINDS ASAP. Didn’t get to eat breakfast because I leave at 5 but it looked like nothing but cereal. They are making excuse because the hotel down the streets offered a full breakfast. The location was great and the staff was too.
