Hôtel Planes

It's the typical mountain Hotel you would probably stop by chance but let me tell you I've already been more than 15 times and I think I could not find a better quality/price restaurant in Pyrenees !! French traditional/nouvelle cuisine restaurant, well balanced, with a gorgeous supreme deserts offer !!! (Should order with main dish) You could not miss the beef Wellington (filet brioche) Best Ever tried !!! ...Or their duck speciality !!! Also hunting dishes in autumn/winter session !! With Eric (maître & owner) I feel like home !! Great experience, highly recommended !!!

The same family has run this hotel for 5 generations, since the late 19th century. The hotel is very proper, immaculately clean, in the center of a quiet community. The hotel restaurant serves superb food - for sure, try it out - and it is a short walk to other restaurants in the village. No air-conditioning, but it is not needed due to the altitude of the village. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return.

My wife and I stayed at the Planes Hotel for a week. The rooms, while small, were extremely clean - not a speck of dust anywhere. The one we had seemed to have been renovated fairly recently. The bed was also very good. The food at the Planes is superb. The chef made a special meal for us that included Isard carpaccio with foie gras and Isard en brioche. Both were amazing. For their standard menu items, everything was above average. The seasonal salad was outstanding, combining light greens with gravlox, house made charcuterie, and sesame. The Planes family is very active in running the hotel and they provide great service. Highly recommend is you're in Saillagouse.

The hotel is on the mainroad through Saillagouse, parking nearby is easy. There is an eleveator in the hotel. The room we stayed in had a balcony and a spacious bathroom. The restaurant has an axcellent card, the menus are very good and they serve god wines for a reasonable price. If you dont like a formal restaurant, there is a brasserie as well with lower prices.

Our second visit, sadly the outstanding restaurant was closed for holiday but the brasserie was opened and served excellent meals at very reasonable prices (16 Euro for 3 courses) For us the outstanding feature of this location is the opportunity for moderate hikes. In particular the town of Llo 2 km away with the Segre River valley offering numerous opportunities. This time we took the Boucle des Maquisards, about 5 miles long with 1600 feet elevation gain. A wonderful warmup for dinner, and of course historically most interesting (used by the French Maquis during WW II to hide supplies and men)
