Nice hotel and customer service by Joanna, who was working the late evening shift. Very clean hotel and dog friendly, with treats available for your dog at the front desk. They are also serving full breakfast, which was great. All employees and guests respected the physical distancing and mask wearing, which eliminated any COVID concerns. We will definitely stay there again next time we’re in the area.
room smelt of fresh tobacco every night

when the ac was on our room smelt of fresh tobacco as if there was a carton of cigarettes in the ac filter. Hostess up front was rude and walked away when i brought up the problem the morning after the smell was discovered. All that could be said was "ok, are we checking out" and then she ran to the back room.
1 Hour Wait in Lobby; Inadequate Customer Service

[We had Room 307 on 8/28/21] Our room wasn't ready until 3:55ishh. We arrived at 3:05ishh. Check-in was 3:00PM. We drove 4 hours to attend our nieces birthday party in Salida, and this was definitely not what we expected. 30-40 mins into our wait I approached the receptionist, Brooke, to inform her of the situation. I talked to her and her response was pretty much this, "It is what it is. You'll have to wait." As frustrated, exhausted and hungry as I was, I could tell she was an inch away from having a mental breakdown. How do I know? I only mentioned that we had been waiting 30-40 mins for our room to be ready and she kind of just snapped and started ranting. She stated that it wasn't her fault that people decided to check-out late, that it wasn't her fault that every other room was full, that these things happen when you're managing/working with other people, that she had no power over assigning the available suites, and at worst the room would be ready by 4:30. I responded with a "By 4:30?". She said "I'm just saying, that's probably the worst case scenario, but just go grab a coffee or something, or just wait in the lobby." At this point, I was ready to snap. A lot went through my mind to be honest. I would have been okay with a half-assed "I'm so sorry about the delay. Let me contact housekeeping, and see if we have any other rooms. If not, let me contact my supervisor about this and I'll get back to you." I kept quiet for a couple of seconds and tried making eye contact. At this point she had gotten up from her seat, and was slowly pacing around her receptionist area while adjusting her headband thing. She was at most twenty. She was about to lose it. I asked her for her name, thanked her for her time, and bitterly proceeded back to the lobby with my luggage. My sister-in-law's room, room 314, was also not ready when she got in at 3:20ishh. A different couple was having the same issue as well. I worked in the food industry for years, and 85% of the time when customers complain, they just want to be heard and have their feelings validated. Obviously, my feelings were not validated hence the review. BUT with all that said, the receptionist wasn't wrong. She was dealt a bad hand by management. Management must do better at this location. Profit cannot come at the expense of good customer service and making sure that a 3:00 PM check-in time actually means 3:00 PM is vitally essential. I will be leaving a review/complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Department of Consumer Affairs as well. Thanks, Edwin
