A bit mouldy
Reviewed 14 January, 2017
Hotel is a good location around corner to main plaza. Staff are friendly and always seem available. Let down by dirty rooms which smell damp and mouldy. Breakfast is quite sad, with watery 'juice' and dry sweet pastry everyday, some variety would be good. Building has potential to be good but poorly maintained. Bed was bad and whole room smells strange when you get back in after a day out. Price was OK though. Slow internet.
Simple budget place to stay

Most of the hotels in Salta seem to cluster around the main plaza, and the Hotel La Giralda is one of them. It's situated about two blocks from the plaza, near a number of ATMs (always handy) and on a busy street. I stayed there for two nights during a stay in Salta and found it perfectly reasonable.
The rooms are simple and clean, although there was a little bit of a musty smell when I first entered my room. This may be because I visited in the winter and the hotel seemed to be partially empty.
However, even with the proximity to a major street, the rooms were quiet and very secure, and the breakfast was ample and also provided early if needed (as I did, to get out for a tour).
Cheap, simple place to stay

Great location and clear facilities, this hotel offers a nice budget stay in Salta, as it is two blocks from the cathedral and main plaza. The desk staff are very accommodating (we had to leave around 6:30 am two days in a row and they served us breakfast early). Just be warned about the showers: they do flood the bathroom. Our room was also off of the eating area, so we would always hear people talking/noises at night, and we did not have an outward facing window.
Cold, dark, dingy and yuk

Hard to say anything nice. Its old, smelly, dark and dingy, cold, ancient saggy beds, trickle of warm water..its cheap and clean and i should be grateful im not out in the rain. Thats it.
Noone else is here, i wonder why. Soggy cornflakes as there is only hot milk... As i dont like pastry for breakfast, even with jam.
Pathetic little hotel

Easily the worst hotel I have stayed in. Shower flooded the bathroom, towel had a hole in it, toilet leaked (I had to fix it after every use), and the air conditioner did not cool the room. No showerheads on the shower. Meager breakfast - coffee was weak and on one morning the milk was rancid - one could see it congealed in the coffee. Young lady at the reception desk was hostile and certainly uncooperative.
The hotel is centrally located, and that is about all. I moved after two days to a hotel that was only $6 per day more expensive and a world apart.
