Good hotel
Hotel Plaza in Salta is a 3 star hotel in the heart of the city. I give them a 5 point rating because even tho the hotel is rather rustic, it's comfortable, the service is excellent, it's clean, and it's in the heart of the city. We stay there a lot! I almost feel I shouldn't advertise it so much to keep this secret to myself. Lately it's been very popular. Great food at the restaurant attached to it.
Excellent for the price
Stayed here for 4 nights in double room. Hotel is literally on the plaza, our room had a balcony overlooking it. The hotel was clean although it is a little run down. Room was cleaned daily and bed was very comfortable. Every staff member that we encountered was very pleasant and seemed to be in a good mood which creates a very nice atmosphere. A small breakfast is included. For the price and convenient location we can't fault it.
Perfect location, run down room
This place is just metres away from the main square, making it easy to walk around. It shares the lobby with the Van Gogh Cafe, which is a decent, affordable restaurant. The hotel also offers free wifi. During my visit, it appeared that the hotel was undergoing some renovations, which it desperately needs. The elevator worked for my arrival, but was broken at all other times. It was only one flight of stairs, but it made things difficult lugging a large suitcase. The room was also pretty dumpy and run-down. There was an inefficient air conditioner, which was incredibly noisy and failed to really cool down the room. The room was clean, but grungy due to age, and seemed damp. Breakfast is a roll and coffee -- consistent with most of South America.
Good location
Room 42 Good location. Walking distance of restaurants churches museum and gondola. Lobby furniture picture is not accurate it is black furniture kinda well worn Our room was an inside room so no windows. Also it was just white walls that were dirty. Overall the room was clean. Towels not changed daily. Staff friendly.
Excellent option for a two star price!
I loved my stay at the Plaza Hotel in Salta. I had a room with a balcony directly over looking the atmospheric square. My room was spacious, clean, and the front desk staff were highly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served downstairs in an adjoining restaurant -- if you are on the 7 am pick for trips you get ' proper coffee '. Go later in the day, the the coffee is lame. This is my only quibble about my stay...
