Horrendous
Never had such awful food. Inedible beef, unrecognisable Yorkshire pudding. Bad service. Manager with arrogance yet no reason to be. Used to enjoy coming to saltwood for a roast dinner. New owners have ruined the character. Lack of customers speaks for itself. Did not feel covid compliant. Took no details and table was not wiped down well enough. AVOID.
Ben - Sunday roast
Awful Sunday roast dinner .... beef was disgusting.... Yorkshire puddings more like and over cooked fairy cake .... absolutely vile .... potatoes where bland and not crispy atall .... probably frozen .... veg was ok but the beef was the worst I’ve ever tasted no seasoning and completely rare .... couldn’t even cut it .... never had a roast dinner as bad as this .... we even told the lady how we felt .... we paid full price and feel like a total waste of £80.... we are a family of 5 and nobody could enjoy or eat there dinner ... will never eat here again

Earlier this month my partner and I booked a Sunday lunch at this pub. When the roast beef dinner arrived it was appalling! The meat was hardly cooked, blood running into the gravey, the veg was not cooked at all and the roast potatoes were soft and cold. The gravey was a grey colour and swimming the blood and wine which hadn't been cooked off! On complaining to the owners the only reply was" we like it this way and no one has complained before and the attitude was appalling! We will never eat there again or recommend this place to anyone! A total waste of an afternoon and 50 quid! Disgusting!
Meal
So... this much loved village pub is under new management and currently undergoing some TLC to update. Kitchen has just opened serving excellent pub grub. Please give it a try and don’t be swayed by previous reviews.
Basic but ok
Spent 2 nights here as we were going to a wedding in the area. I thought I was booking a hotel when I booked but it was a pub. The staff were friendly, and they serve a good breakfast and nice coffee. The room was comfortable, with lovely fresh white towels. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits provided. The whole place good do with a bit of TLC and a good clean up outside. The shower was very poor. On a whole it was fine, we would stay here again if in the area. I would suggest putting fans in the rooms when the weather is has hot as the last few days! 35deg.
