Bad experience.

IT advertises itself as a spa and mountain resort and its neither. Staff doesnt speak english. The spa doesnt exist. Pool was dirty and gym closed. Room was noisy. Staff did nothing to prevent it. Its located 6 kms.from the city center and the facilities are really poor. The menú offered by the hotel restaurant was also scarce and breakfast awful. After lunch it was closed to...8 pm. Dinner was also poor. Few options. No facilities for people with dissabilities at all. IT was not what they offered. As a foreigner, Id look for a better suited place. Not coming back.

Well....you have better options in Bariloche oarticularly if you are looking for a spa or resort

I booked it through Miles&Mores reward system, when I arrived they didn’t have my booking in the system. The staff doesn’t speak English at all, so it was quite difficult to understand each other. In the end they found the reservation and prepared the room, afterwards, of course the receptionist was very kind and apologized for the inconveniences. I booked this hotel because originally it said it’s a spa but actually you cannot book any treatments so I had to go to an other hotel. The hotel needs renovation badly, although the view is indeed superb. It is also quite far from everything, so you must consider this only if you arrive by a car. The breakfast os very modest. Bread, butter, jam and scrambled eggs from one egg.

In disrepair

Reviewed 24 december, 2017

This hotel not only is far from the city but is in a sad state of disrepair, our room door was out of whack and didn’t close properly, the wardrobe had a broken piece, the light switch and power points are out of frame (looks like were installed by Picasso) on top of that the heater was turned on only between late night and very early morning, the bed was very comfortable do, on the outside of the hotel the fence was falling to pieces in parts and the hedges were overgrown obstructing the lake view. There is a restaurant but is not part of the hotel, it have a very small menu and you must pay cash only. The pool, spa and sauna were out of service. To make a long story short; we did not like it in this place.

A wonderful jem!

Estancia del Carmen is a rare find for me. Situated comfortably outside the city bustle, it does require a car (and one's holiday in Bariloche should include a rental). But the advantages of staying outside the city are significant here (spectacular views of the Cathedral mountain and lake Gutierrez). The service was impeccable, the room cleaned immaculately every day. The food was very good (trout, steak, fondue). The restaurant downstairs (Casimiro) doubles as one of the top rated places to eat in Bariloche. The chef offers a great selection of wines to accompany your dinner. The staff were very warm and welcoming people. Highly recommended.

Good value but could use some TLC

Reviewed 2 february, 2015

I generally only write very positive reviews as there is far too much negativity on most review sites. With this resort hotel however, some of the reviews on Trip Advisor seem very far from my experience. This review is mixed, but hopefully fair. Let me say first, that we ended up at the Estancia del Carman for 3 days on a last minute special, where the actual resort’s name was not revealed until after payment and the description suggested a luxury resort. The location was a negative surprise, as was the rustic character of the place. While my wife and I were at first put off with the general appearance of the resort and the fact that the lake is a 45 minute walk on busy, dusty roads, we really enjoyed our 3 day stay. All 19 hotel rooms offer an unobstructed view of Lago Gutierrez and the Cathedral Mountains. Some of the dozen or so cabins offer views; others are set back a bit. The grounds are spacious and treed with a large play area for children. The resort staff was welcoming, helpful and spoke enough English to make it easy. As we had no car, we depended on the onsite restaurant that gets some bad reviews on this site. We found the breakfasts tasty and plentiful with bread, croissants, limited cereal choices, cheese and sliced ham as well as rather weak coffee. We ate 3 dinners and one big lunch in the restaurant. Food was at times slow in coming as it is all fresh cooked and generally of good quality. (The “tabla” – a mixed plate for 2 was wonderful for value, taste and presentation.) The swimming pool is inside and like most of the resort could use some maintenance and TLC, but it was usable and had a view. The spa consists of one small room off the pool with a single table, but my wife and I felt the deep tissue massage we ordered was professional and inexpensive. The resort is 10 km from Bariloche and requires a taxi. The city bus service only runs about every 2 hours. There is no hotel transfer alluded to in an earlier review. The hotel rooms are spacious with great views. They do need to be updated and the general maintenance of the grounds could use some additional care. This is an Argentinean family resort. At about $100 USD a night it is good value, if you have a car and want to be away from the hectic pace of Bariloche town. I would not reommend the location without a car.
