The older parts are the more attractive

The Hotel Diego de Mazariegos was one short block beyond ithe town's main plaza It had two sites. Our place was ranged around a brightly-painted single-storey courtyard, with most of the rooms in a higher extension in one corner. The courtyard was a pleasant place to sit while our rooms were being sorted out and the luggage turned up, and we could do so with a complimentary drink which nodded towards sangria without containing as much alcohol (that is, if the usual rule on these occasions was being followed.) Our third-floor room was pleasantly spacious, with a tiled floor and whitewashed walls and a fireplace, its only obvious drawback the fact of the only window looking straight into the next room along. It had two beds, which was good, but the safe didn’t work, which wasn’t. Fortunately I got it fixed in about thirty seconds (it was a reprogramming job, so they sent a young person along)
Next morning the courtyard looked well in the bright sunlight, but an unimaginative breakfast buffet, taken in a room just off it, let it down.
Lovely hotel in central location

We were with a tour group and stayed for 2 nights. There are two sections of this hotel, one across the road from the other. We were in the section on the right hand side, when coming from the main square.
The room we had was small, but had a King size bed, a small table and chairs and a lounge chair, leaving little room for movement and cases. The room was clean.
Unfortunately, the room (109) was at the back of the hotel on a street with two metal grates fully across the road at about 10 metres apart. All night we could hear cars hit the first and then the second grate with a loud metallic sound (clack-clack), making it very difficult to sleep. One large window looking out onto the street was double glazed, which prevented noise. However another smaller one let in all the noise, even when closed. On the second night we tried to place spare blankets and pillows against the window to deaden the sound, but with little success. Also a nearby nightclub played music from about 12 midnight, through to 6:00 a.m., which could be clearly heard in the room. So we had little sleep. Others in the group in rooms on the back street had the same experience.
An excellent buffet breakfast was provided in the dining room in the “sister” hotel across the road.

On a tour and stayed here two nights. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. This hotel is very central and close to the main square. Lots of shops and restaurants, really easy to get around. We didn’t enjoy the breakfast

The hotel is well located, rooms adequate and staff friendly but if you have any need to have reliable WiFi access in your room then this place is not for you. We even changed rooms. WiFi is spotty at best even in lobby and you cannot use VPN which I require to access my office. I had to make a daily trek to Starbucks to connect via VPN to my office. After a couple of days we changed hotels.
