New York City sized Hotel Room in San Diego

We stayed one night precruise and the location is excellent. There are many walkable nearby restaurants. The neighborhood felt safe and the hotel is very well-situated. There is security to ascend floors in the elevator. One must use your room key to access your floor. The hotel is clean and while we didnt check it out, it offers a rooftop cocktail lounge. Our room was tiny. It had everything we needed including a king-sized bed, but there was only about 2 feet of space on either side and at the foot of the bed. The bathroom, on the other hand, was spacious and had a big walk-in shower. The water pressure was weak, but that may be a California thing. Overall, we had a good stay and since we were only staying one night, the room met our needs. On the up side, our cruise ship cabin now will seem spacious in comparison!
Fantastic Hotel Staff

Definitely recommend this property and the level of service is phenomenal Let me start by praising Wendy, whose customer service skills are unmatched in our many Marriott stays. Whether it is a recommendation about finding a place to buy a bottle of wine, asking about a restaurant, or any question about this property, she has a friendly answer. This is our 95th Marriott night in 2021 and Wendy is as top notch as anyone we have met & she is a credit to the Marriott brand. When Wendy was not there, Harmony was as friendly and professional The Bistro is breakfast-only now and, the two women working here equally as pleasant as the other property personnel. Not a ton of food choices, but what we had always did the trick The rooftop bar “The Nolen” was a lot of fun and had incredible views. Bar appetizers we had were very good and a nice drink selection. Servers and bartenders all very friendly. This is pretty laid back during the week, but will fill up quickly Thursday-Saturday. Location is good for Convention goers and Padres Petco Park is 2 blocks away if you want to catch a baseball game….but plenty of choices if having a foodie stay. I had read a lot of places in Gaslamp were closed but we didn’t find that to be the case at all. Balboa Park was a 10-12 minute drive with the museums and San Diego Zoo. Coronado was just slightly farther, but still close. Airport 10 minutes away Beaches are pretty close but PB is about a 25 minute trip. Thanks again to the staff for a great stay !
Karla Was Awesome!

Karla was on point and knew how to get things done! I gave her a hard time because her facial expressions look serious with her mask on, but it didn’t faze her at all. Hotel is small but perfect size and location. Definitely will stay again. Thanks for everything.
Another COVID bummer, but not the hotel's fault. Great staff!

In current times, it isn't an ideal place to stay. I had high hopes that more restaurants and shops would be open however it was a total ghost town. I would recommend staying somewhere that may have more things open. The gentleman who checked us in was wonderful and very attentive. The room was fine, nothing special and a bit small. Our shower drain was very slow and the initial smell of the room was not great, but I know that is the special cleaners they are required to use. The homeless everywhere was also not ideal being that I was there with my young daughter. Parking in a garage is a few blocks away, no valet right now. We scored big time with a parking spot right in front.

This was one of the most positive experiences at a hotel I have ever had. This hotel has done a great job of implementing all COVID precautions and was very clean and we felt very safe and comfortable at this hotel. All of the staff we encountered was incredibly kind and helpful with any needs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and it will be my first choice in future San Diego trips.
