OK for limited stay

Stayed here one night just passing through. Close to freeway. I checked in just before midnight, and left around 9am, so I didn't go over to Old Town, which is close. This hotel is ok for limited stay

Needed Vacation Trip !

Great Stay at the Courtyard Marriott In Old Town San Diego California. The hotel is located right in the great neighborhood of Old Town San Diego. Old town is an historical section of San Diego with shops and restaurants right in walking distance of the hotel. Upon arrival to the hotel and walking inside, I was immediately greeted by the hotel representative at the front desk. The greeting was warm and welcoming and I knew I had made the correct choice in my hotel selection for my stay in San Diego. Our stay was for 5 nights. The pricing was reasonable for the stay. The hotel is central to many attractions in San Diego. We were able to navigate the area with ease and not spend a lot of time in the car to reach our destinations. The hotel was clean and had the courtyard bistro which serves meals and drinks during various times of the day. I unfortunately did not utilize the dining area, however I saw several hotel patrons utilizing the restaurant during my time passing through the lobby. The hotel room was spacious and very up to date in decor. The room did have a humid smell to it but once the air conditioning was turned on the smell seemed to fade to the background. If you are looking for great food and authentic shopping, you can take an 5 minute walk from the hotel into old town and enjoy the scenery. Good food an shopping was right up alley in terms of exploring the area. The hotel has has plenty of parking. If you want to to swing the $25 a night parking, the hotel has three onsite parking garages to choose from. If you want to avoid the extra cost, then you can park along the street. The street seemed to be busy at times, so for convenience I paid for the daily parking. The hotel had a swimming pool and was open to use until 10pm each day. On our visit to downtown the trip time was about 6 minutes. I was able to travel to mission beach and the travel time was 10 minutes by car. Balboa Park was a 10-15 minute drive with consideration of traffic and time of day. I would highly recommend this hotel based off of customer service, cost and ease of travel to local attractions. I were to return to San Diego I would stay here again. I hope this helps someone make a decision on their next stay.

Stay Elsewhere

Reviewed 28 july, 2021

Stayed here for a youth soccer tournament recently. On the positive side, hotel is nicely located within walking distance of Old Town and has nice common area/patio for gatherings. However, the negatives outweighed the positives. One evening, a naked man started running around the hotel, exposing himself to a group of teenage girls staying at the hotel for the tournament. General manager Katee was shockingly unsympathetic to the concerns of the guests over this incident. Also, we learned from the police that several hotels/motels in the area are being used to house the homeless, which is causing safety concerns in the area. Additionally, when we initially arrived in the evening, we were given a room that had dirty towels on the floor and an industrial sized fan on the floor because there was an odor in the room. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

Avoid this hotel!!

We chose this hotel because we needed an immediate place to stay. First upon arrival there were two people in the very small parking lot clearly homeless and on something. The then moved to the front lawn by the room we were in and continued to loiter. This is not a hotel you would want to hang out. And relax. The rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. We just returned from being gone most of the day and again new homeless person loitering between the buildings. Also if you drive anything larger than a Prius good luck with finding parking. I asked for a credit as I prepaid for parking and was told to return the parking pass. Now should one of the six spots they have open I may use it. There is some underground parking garages but again but not made for large cars. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved to a more secure room, and was told a patio room is what we booked. Since I had not been here before I did not know this would be a unsecured location with homeless loitering about. The front desk was not empathetic to my concerns. I must say should the front desk attendant offered once ounce of concern it would have been appreciated! I suppose if I was accused to homeless people hanging near my location it wouldn’t bother me either. The solution is they told me they would have some usher them away. Had I not been in a desperate situation would not be here and it’s extremely overpriced!!

This hotel was just ok. No maid service, hot tub not available. The room was nice but I feel like we paid to much. But it's in a great location to explore Old Town. Room smelled like smoke. Bed was super comfortable. Definitely a mix of feelings about this hotel.
