Disappointing for Ramada

They charge you $38 a night for parking. I could have stayed somewhere nicer with that additional price point. The radiator was so loud, letting out pressure, leaking water. The AC and exhaust in the bathroom were loud too. The location is decent. The front desk were very professional. I was initially given the wrong room. Had I not point it out I would not have given the correct room I booked. They had these annoying old elevators whose 2 doors you'd have to hold open giving no freehand to deal with your luggage. I'd recommend booking somewhere with better updated facilities unless you want the old timey hotel experience and would be okay dealing with the inconveniences it comes with.
Black Mold in the HVAC and Shower
Reviewed 4 january, 2022
This was the WORST hotel I have stayed in a long time. Nobody should have to sleep in a room with black mold and pay for it! There was a small amount of black mold in the shower; however, in the morning when I woke up stuffy, I discovered there was a LARGE amount of black mold inside the window HVAC unit. Nobody should be sleeping in that room until the HVAC unit is thoroughly cleaned or replaced and the black mold needs to be cleaned in the shower as well. Regards, Room 222
Neat restored hotel

This historic hotel fits well in the neighborhood of the Gaslamp district, but is still a nice, clean place with modern conveniences at a good price. If you like a dash of history with your stay rather than a forgettable generic hotel, this is a good option.
It is what it is.

It is what it is; a funky old hotel, with small rooms, small, noisy slow elevators...BUT, it is a rarity; a very affordable ( for now) cool historic building in the perfect location. Right in the Gaslamp, minutes from Balboa park, the Zoo, the Midway, Little Italy, etc. When the new owners "renovate", it will be like all the rest; pretty and very expensive. The staff was wonderful; especially Chianti, but also Jayla, Taylor, Olga...
Outdated and musty

Obviously this is a lower end chain hotel so we expected it would be relatively cookie cutter. Unfortunately the pictures are a bit deceiving. The hotel is incredibly outdated, the elevator is worrisome, and the carpet in our room was… almost sticky. Would not stay again
