Surprised and pleased

Reviewed 20 october, 2021

Being an older property, I didn't expect much but it was great. The room was large, clean and updated with new windows, crown molding, nice shower, sink, frig & micro and comfortable beds. The location is perfect, steps from public transportation (I highly recommend getting a 1 or 3 day visitor pass with the Muni app) and steps to restaurants and a great market (Real Food Co). We had some issues with no cold water, the TV died, the door was difficult to open and the phone didn't work but Damon quickly handled most of those items. Yes, the parking is challenging but the value and location of this hotel is worth it. There are some homeless in the area - like all cities but we never felt unsafe and we are 2 sisters in our 70's. If you have to have a 5 star hotel, this is not for you. As advertised, it is a no frills property but it's a gem and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Worth place to stay in the middle of all at reasonable price

Hot water in the shower, parking available in the hotel itself, no luxury but comfortable bed and pillows. Free WiFi with good speed. Plenty of restaurans, night life, supermarkets, pubs, farmacies and whatever you need just in the neighborhood. The price worth it.

A Clean, Comfortable, Welcoming San Francisco Lodging Option

Reviewed 10 october, 2021

EXACTLY what we desired for a two-night stay in San Francisco. We reside in Sacramento and my wife had a surgical procedure to be performed at the UCSF Medical Center. The hospital was conveniently located about 4 miles from the Castle Inn, less that 15 minutes travel time outside busy SFO commute hours. Our host was very helpful in recommending restaurant and coffee shop options within an easy two-block walk from the inn. The inn had gone through an extensive remodel prior to our OCT 2021 visit. Our room had small refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. Our queen-size double beds were comfortable and housekeeping was impeccable. Double black-out shades were a thoughtful amenity and street traffic sounds were zero to pretty doggone minimal. Ear plugs are ALWAYS a good idea for ANY lodging where traffic MAY be a nuisance. We didn't need earplugs at the Castle Inn. I was pleased to note ownership responded to ALL reviews at the Expedia website. I booked my stay at Expedia as I was linked there after looking over reviews at TripAdvisor. Booking at the inn's website is an option. On-site parking was included in the room rate, a quickly disappearing convenience in SFO. I am pleased to rate the Castle Inn very highly. Helpful hint: If you have the option to drive your Ford-250 dual-wheel extended cab pickup or Hyundai Elantra for your Castle Inn stay, opt for the Elantra. Entry to the garage and most all parking slots ain't giant vehicle friendly. C'mon! You're in San Francisco. Side Note: Our Castle Inn visit occurred during the Covid pandemic. Management's observance of procedures to protect the health of guests and staff was greatly appreciated.

We choose this hotel because of the reviews and we do not regret it. The location is fabulous!! The restaurants and pubs are plentiful, there are some really fun shops to visit, and you can walk to so many city sights. The room is comfortable and sparkling clean. Check in and out is quick and super easy. I look forward to a longer stay.

Great location

Reviewed 3 october, 2021

3 night stay. Able to check in early. No frills King room, but clean and comfortable with microwave and fridge. Instant hot water and the shower had great pressure. Right on the road, but the noise wasn't too bad. We had the A/C on all night, so the "white noise" drowned out any road noise. Traffic started picking up around 7am, so if you're a late sleeper this might be an issue. No breakfast or fitness room. FREE parking, which is impossible to find in a good hotel in this area. As others have stated, parking spaces are small, but I was able to fit a full size SUV in a basement spot. Left the vehicle there all 3 days, nicely located hotel, as we walked everywhere. Overall a great stay a would definitely stay here again!
