We stayed here for 2 nights after spending 1 night somewhere else. The front desk employee here was friendly, acknowledged my husband being a Gold member, asked what we wanted for his amenities and we received 2 drinks and 2 snacks. Off to a great start compared to the other place we stayed at. The room was clean. Most everyone wore a mask-some customers did not. Even the guy cleaning the pool wore a mask and gloves. As the temperature dropped into the 40s that night and our room had no heat, the front desk guy put us in another room with no problem. The breakfast----WOW! Best we've had of the last 3 hotels we stayed at.
Cute boutique style hotel

This is not your standard courtyard hotel. It seems to be remodeled from an older hotel. The rooms are tiny but decorated pleasantly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom adequate. It has a shower in the bathtub. The bathtub seems original with a type of paint over the old porcelain. The lobby is small but cute. The front desk staff were very helpful. The location is on the edges of Union Square a bit out of the way. The neighborhood is slightly rough with lots of homeless out on the street. However I felt safe (60 y/o female) and was not bothered at all ( I'm from NYC). I found this hotel to be a good value for the location.
An average hotel in San Francisco

The hotel was fine, it is only a three star hotel, but as it is "by Marriott" we thought it would be good enough for us. Checking in and out was easy. The hotel restaurant was closed due to covid -19. The room was clean and they offered to clean it when we requested due to covid-19, but the towels were old and when we asked for new ones they told us to collect them from reception. On the other hand, we think that the hotel is not well located because it is a bit far from the center and at night the street has a lot of homeless people.

Chose this property based on its proximity to downtown as well as Marriott Gold Status. Communication with the Hotel before arrival through the Marriott App Chat was great, the staff helped us with some questions we had. Check-in at 1 am was fast and efficient, as a Gold Member, got upgraded to a room on Floor 14 with a nice view. There were plenty of options around for breakfast and dinner, all of them were really good. The staff was outstanding and always helped us with a smile. The location is good. We were a bit hesitant after reading some reviews about the hotel being in a sketchy area but that was not the case (at least for us). The only issue we had was that due to the upgrade, the final bill was much higher, but the front desk immediately realized the mistake and fixed it. Overall a great stay, especially if you are exploring the city.
Basement Room / Terrible Neighborhood
Reviewed 15 august, 2021
We were assigned a basement room which was fine because of the size of the room. However they had us in room 007 which sucks because it shares a wall with the gym that is open 24/7. Not only does it share a wall, but it is the wall of the headboard. You hear every weight dropped and every step on the treadmills. Ask for a different room if they try and give you this one. Also, this is a sketchy part of town. Drugs were everywhere…even in the middle of the day, but stay off the streets around this location at night. You will be approached and offered everything you could imagine. We typically love Marriott hotels, but we will not be back to this location. The hotel itself is clean and the employees were great, but you have to take everything else into consideration when deciding on a location.
