Don’t fall for M Club Lounge

Reviewed 24 september, 2022

I booked a room with M Club Lounge access. (This neighborhood has a very Times Square vibe…and I wanted to have the lounge as an option if walking around was not.) Anyway, came to find that the lounge is only open for BREAKFAST on the weekends. No cocktails, no snacks. I feel like I was taken advantage of… I tried to get a partial credit—M Lounge increased the price at least $100. Management claimed that this information was provided — but I could not find it. I was given a schedule of meals/drinks for the Lounge when I checked in, even, that didn’t reflect this. The current app info doesn’t inform if the limited hours either. But the gentleman helping me was dismissive and rude. So, I’m a rube that paid for something that had little value. When I tried to correct this, I was told to f*** off, basically. Don’t make the mistake I did. Just avoid this hotel.

Great location and beautiful views

Reviewed 22 september, 2022

The hotel was very well located and well maintained. The rooms were large and comfortable, with a stunning view of the city. The bathrooms were clean and well equipped. I really enjoyed having my digital key on my phone, which made checking in and out a breeze. The walls are pretty thin and they put us in one of those rooms that have a door to the next door room for larger family groups, and the folks next door decided to throw a party at 2 am. It got so loud with music, lots of laughing and talking, that we had to call security because we just couldn’t sleep. Getting a hold of the front desk was not easy. It rang and rang and no one picked up. Then finally I called reservations and they patched me to the front desk. They sent security up, and he knocked on the door of the partiers and told them to tone it down, which they did. I was glad security acted on it and helped us out. I would definitely stay here again, hoping my next door neighbors won’t be throwing a party again next time.

San Francisco disappointment

Reviewed 19 september, 2022

What a disappointment! I had expected so much more. In Atlanta, the Marquis has a reputation for quality service and hospitality. San Francisco was supposed to be the highlight of our California vacation. I was willing to pay for a really nice place for three days, so we could enjoy San Francisco. I may come back to San Francisco, but will definitely stay somewhere else. Maybe the other Marriot, right around the corner, will take better care of their guests.

Pillows and Internet a problem

Reviewed 19 september, 2022

We usually stay at this property about 8 times/year and I was very surprised by my last visit. I was there at the end of June, and everything was fine. Evidently, the pillows have all been switched out now, and the new pillows are more like sofa bolsters. They are very hard and full, our heads were lifted 8-10 " off the bed making the pillows impossible to use comfortably. We had to use the small throw pillows on the sofa as bed pillows. When we asked both housekeeping and the front desk if there were other bed pillows available, we were told that there was not. I was told that we would have to bring our own pillows if we wanted anything different. As loyal platinum members it was disappointing to learn that things have changed for the worse. Also, the internet was out almost all weekend. I understand that might have been out of their control. but non-the-less it was very inconvenient. We were happy that the M lounge was finally open on Sunday morning for continental breakfast. but only for 1 hour.....from 8-9! After 9:00 only chips, candy, and a few pieces of fruit was available. I really miss the old days when the lounge was a real plus for staying at the hotel. We will be re-thinking whether we will stay there again.
