Laidback friendly hotel with enthusiastic staff
Fabulous location for kitesurfing. Staff were friendly and welcoming and very accommodating. We really wanted a room overlooking the beach but at the moment it's just the apartments that are open. They were very apologetic and offered to move us to a room with more light instead. In the end, we had a nice big apartment with a kitchen and all the basics.
Restaurant- The devil is in the detail
Could work if you know what you are getting. This review is ONLY for the restaurant/beach experience. Location great. Ambience great. Music nice. Food=so/so. Breakfast nice. Mediterranean plate lacks flavor. Burger taste like adobo (not good). Fries are great. Drinks are good despite of not black label. Covid measures seem to be on spot and in place. I saw them disinfecting tables and chairs after ppl left. Masks enforced inside. Service needs polishing. Despite that, Our waiter was charming and nice. overall they place lacks fines in service. After being over 8 hours rented chairs and eating and drinking at the beach the owner didn’t allowed me to go to the restroom because I didn’t have a wrist band that THEY were supposed to give me when we rented the beach chairs/umbrella etc... she didn’t care to ask her staff if I was a customer or not... it would have taken 30 seconds. worst she said “my house my rules” with an attitude that is definitely not needed in the hospitality industry. to which I snapped and was snobbish enough to reply “my money” cause I choose where to spend it. It’s like a fake Vuitton, looks very nice from a distance but the devil is in the detail...
Business must be good if they can turn away a paying customer
I will preface this review by saying that I was not a guest at the beach house. Instead, this restaurant was recommended to me by a local tour operator for brunch. However, when I arrived they turned me away from the restaurant (which that was only partially full) saying they do not serve non-guests, stating this was a new policy. I’m a global traveler as noted by my numerous reviews and I have never been turned away from a business before. In my opinion, a smart business owner would’ve welcomed me in with open arms as the restaurant only had two tables busy at the time I arrived. Instead, He/she literally turned away a good paying customer! Downside to that business decision is I would never stay here on future returns nor would I recommend it to anyone. Pennywise pound foolish in my decision! This review is my thanks for that poor treatment!
Great place to recharge
Beautiful beach front guest house with meals and drinks on the beach. Modest but comfortable room. No need for a car: short cab ride from the airport, close enough to walk to a lot of terrific food and activities. Or just relax on a very nice beach. Great area for walking on the beach. Very helpful with arranging fantastic snorkeling trip and amazing hike to El Yunque. Shout out to the always helpful, always friendly staff, especially Lylienid and Marjorie. Our second stay at #1 and we’ll go back.
The Best Cappacino Ever!
We had breakfast at the Numero Uno Beach House and our server was Lylienid Cordero who makes the best Cappacino! Our experience at the restaurant was a very pleasant one and it was a good start to our 10 day Caribbean cruise which began in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Thanks, Lylienid!
