Quick get away from the Cold and misery of Covid. My cabana room was great and room service was very considerate by not waking me up. My bartenders were better. Love me some Jeanette and Cynthia. I highly recommend visiting now. Easy in and out of the airport.
Quite a pleasant surprise

We had great one night stay with my family before moving on to vacation in Isabella. Vice Presidential Suite upgrade was quite a nice touch, abd so was an email conversation with Concierge/ Service Reps before our arrival. Tons of extras for Platinum Bonvoy members, and generally high end resort experience. Nice pool area, and good beach access too. No complaints. The suite was definitely exceeding my expectations. Friendly service, tasteful common areas. Bar was passable, but breakfast buffet was quite good too: however, it was not cheap by any stretch of imagination at $30. Expensive resort, but high class. I used one of my numerous free nights, so not so sure what would be the outcome if we were to pay $400-$500 per night....

Our family of 5 recently stayed at this resort over the Christmas/New Year holiday and were very disappointed from the beginning. After a long day of flying, we had to wait in a long elite reservation line to check in. The people in front of us were complaining about their bills. Seems like they should have a separate line for that. Upon checking in, one of our rooms was not ready. You would think at almost 6pm all of our rooms would be ready. The person checking us in apologized and said she would give us a $75 credit towards our stay for the inconvenience. We never received the credit until I had to complain later in the week. We also never received the free food vouchers towards meals and had to complain about that as well. The rooms are very outdated and felt dirty. The beds are worn and sagging in areas. The meal choices were terrible. The first morning breakfast at La Panaderia was complete chaos. They completely overcharge your for terrible food and service. The next morning they removed all the breakfast items from the restaurant and just offered one meal choice. The other option is a restaurant with a $30 per person breakfast buffet. Seems a bit overpriced in my opinion for just breakfast. Also, the beach really isn’t that great. With the direction of the hotel you spend a lot of the day in the shade. It is very crowded with not that great of beach service. Overall, the resort needs a lot of updating. We felt completely ripped off and spent a fortune on drinks and food that really wasn’t that great. Will never go back.
Excellent where it counts

My party of 5 had a great time at the hotel for our 8 day stay that just completed. I was a little concerned because I had read that the ocean front rooms in the main tower were on the small side but I was pleasantly surprised that it had two double beds and the bathroom was reasonable. We had no complaints on the size, although the 5th person did need to sleep on an air mattress. I have nothing but positive comments to give for anything of any importance regarding this property. We are Marriott Titanium members and stay at many Marriott properties over the years. The staff was extraordinary - very attentive, polite and always with a greeting and a positive attitude. The pool food was a decent quality (no complaints) as was the pool bar. We enjoyed the swim up bar in the pool. We were there between Christmas and over New Years and during that early part the hotel was at capacity and chairs around the pool were a bit limited but not impossible to find. I appreciated the fact that they appeared to enforce a 30 minute 'orphan' limit for people who dumped stuffed to reserve a seat and then left for hours. There were a few 'situations' caused by this but we felt it is fair not to allow chair hoarding. After New Years the crowds disappeared and there were never issues finding seats at the pool or on the beach. During Covid we felt extremely safe (in general Puerto Rico is doing a fantastic job) with the requirements of verifying guests based on a wrist band and making sure health requirements are in place. I would highly recommend Puerto Rico as a visitation location right now if concerned about Covid - they are doing a good job of mitigation. The pool was beautiful with good service at the seats - they seemed a bit understaffed but not bad. Our one negative is that the ocean is very rough at the beaches at Condado Beach. If you had small kids I would be concerned. We walked on the 'short' beach several times and did a bit of wading but the surf and riptide is dangerous. My two 'constructive' comments are as follows: New Years celebration was a bust. They did have some dinner event that ended around 11:00 p.m. but nothing else in place to celebrate entering 2022. They have a nice outdoor bar that was never open at night which seemed like a shame. Indoors the TVs rarely worked at that bar and when they did during New Years eve they were turned to the Georgia/Michigan football game and none on the countdown channel. There was no countdown organized. During Covid with an emphasis of being outside it would be nice to have some nightly activities. My second comment is that the Casino is pretty lame. We love roulette and it was not staffed most nights there. No craps, roulette and other games. Only two tables for black jack and a couple of other games. Manager said staffing issue but we saw multiple tables staffed with people that did manage roulette at other stations. In any case - we saw many people disappointed. There was nothing else to do at night at the hotel besides the casino and indoor bar. Overall... highly recommended with only the comments of adding some outside activities at night (music/bar) and maybe better staffing of more games at the Casino.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the San Juan Marriott Resort. We were extremely pleased with our experience at the resort. Here are a few observations: Covid-19 Protocols-- The staff take Covid-19 seriously. Unless you are in the pool area or actively eating at a restaurant, you will be expected to wear your mask. All staff were their masks (properly!) at all times. Room-- We stayed in the Cabana wing. The rooms are spacious and have been recently renovated. All the rooms in the Cabana wing have a beautiful view of the pool and beach. Housekeeping did a wonderful job clearing the room each day and ensuring we had everything needed. The measure of a truly great hotel is how they handle unforeseen issues. We did have one issue with our room. Hotels are not immune to leaks. When water was leaking from our shower light, we alerted Luis Jimenez, an engineer who happened to be on the floor. He immediately took photos and informed us not to use the shower and he would be going directly to the front desk. A few minutes later we received a call from the front office manager who explained that we had to move rooms and made those arrangements and took care of us. The next part was even more stunning and gracious: Luis, the engineer came back to the room with a bag of goodies and offered his sincere apologies. I cannot reiterate how above and beyond the staff went. Thank you! Food-- We ate the Red Coral Lounge, Gingambo, La Panaderia, and the Pool Bar. We were happy with the portions and quality of food ordered. Yes, you will pay resort prices for drinks... but you are at a resort. Make sure you have a Mojito-- you won't be disappointed. Platinum and Titanium members receive a two $14.00 vouchers for breakfast at La Panaderia for quick serve or Gingambo for buffet. Both were good. Pool Area: These folks are shining stars of the hotel. All of the lifeguards at the slide were so friendly and engaging with the kids (trust me, our 7 year old was trying to break a record for riding the slide!). The other pool staff helped with chairs and ensuring that everyone was having a positive experience. I have been to many hotels where if you don't get up at 7AM to "claim" your chair then you won't have one-- which is very frustrating. Not at this resort. They monitor the chairs and remove towels (and place items in a bag to be claimed at desk) if the chairs aren't being used. I can tell you that this is much appreciated. As one staff member said, "we just want everyone to enjoy their time at the pool." Again, thank you. I really wish that I wrote down all the names of the pool staff since they were that amazing. However, I do want to give credit to Rita Manero. She was constantly zipping around the pool area, monitoring chairs, throwing away finished drinks/ food, and checking in on guests. Thanks, Rita, and pool staff! You made vacation memorable. In conclusion, we highly recommend the Sam Juan Marriott Stellaris. We can't wait to come back!
