Stoped here for a late lunch since everything else in town was closed. The dining room is very nice and our waitress could not have been any nicer. The food was terrible and expensive. Started with the ceviche- was very fresh but lacked any flavor. I ordered the Garlic Seafood- it was inedible. I LOVE garlic, crave it everyday, but this was like eating pure garlic with a small side of fish. My wife ordered the Mahi- not bad but not great and a very small filet, maybe 4oz. She had a margarita and I had the pina colada which were both ok but not worth the price. Portions were small and the bill was $54 USD. There was also another waitress sleeping on the couches while we were eating which was rude. It looked like the cook told her to get up after us being there for 20 minutes... she then moved to the bar and sat and helped her self to chicken wings before we had our food. Very unprofessional. At the end out waitress asked us about every dish and drink we had and seemed like she truly cared and wanted to know how to make things better. She is the reason I gave this place any stars at all.
Over Priced Tourist Rip off.

The food is not great. They have no respect for tourists. You will be shocked at the bill if you eat there. Go around the corner. There is a great little, locally owned diner. I gave them a second try...but, how do they think they are kidding. I visit this area a lot. Only eat there if you want to pay a stupid amount of money for good that is just okay.

It is a rip off. The hotel is NOT 200m or 5min walk from the beach; it is a good 15min walk. There is virtually no service-we had to look for a person to check us in when we arrived. When we were 5min late for breakfast (2 fried eggs and bread), they offered the same breakfast to us at the menu price. The restaurant is terrible. This is by far the worst place to eat in the village and in fact it was the only empty place in the village. The room was not properly cleaned after the build and there is a lack of furniture in the room. I can say though, the bathroom/shower was nice if a little too small. The pool you see in the pics is a plastic pond. So, it is not really worth the price you’re paying. I am not sure about this but I think they are charging locals different prices than shown here or maybe there is room for negotiation and I also think that most of the high star reviews are fake or paid. The TripAdvisor profile of Buddha Hotel does not reflect the reality of the hotel or the grounds. This dishonesty is telling.
Great San Juanillo

The hotel is very well located, 200 m from the beach. The restaurant is very nice and the people working here is nice as well. The rooms are comfortable and they have good air conditioning. Overall a place recommended to spend your vacations.
So Over Priced. Tourist Rip Off.

I come to this part of Costa Rica about three times a year. I was shocked that they are charging $25.00 a drink. They are looking to rip people off. This is not a place where you would want to go. If you want to see the sunset and, enjoy a drink, go to the local market and, the beach that is right down the street. When the bill came, the server was apologetic and, refused a tip. He obviously knew this place is out to take advantage. There are better options for food and, drinks in this area.
