Beautiful, but their "pool" is not suitable for swimming!
If you love unique artwork, Casa Catalina is a great place to stay. They definitely put a lot of thought in to decorating the place, and each room is unique. The made-to-order breakfast was also very welcome. But there were a few things that made me give the place three stars out of five. When we arrived, there was no one around who spoke English. We managed to work things out, but the parking situation was quite limited. Also, on certain sites Casa Catalina advertises itself as having a pool. I can assure you, their "pool" was way too small and dirty to consider swimming in. They really should not be classified as having a pool at all. It's misleading. One couple had brought their little dog with them, but they did not bother to clean after the dog, who left little "gifts" around. Finally, we had to ask for extra blankets because it can be quite cold at night. The place itself is unique and lovely, but better attention needs to be given to all these details.
Great stay at Casa Catalina
We stayed at Casa Catalina for a few nights before heading off to the Huasteca Potosina and absolutely loved our stay here. Everything from the included full breakfast to the comfortable rooms were outstanding. The location is great since you can walk to many places. We had a rental car and they have safe secure parking as well. Lucy Alfaro the property manager was a delight to interact with as well as Maggie who prepares the yummy breakfasts and keeps the rooms clean and tidy. We also stayed for one additional night on our return from the HP since it was convenient for easy travel to and from the SLP airport
Excellent place to stay during a visit to SLP.
We spent two nights at Casa Catalina. Excellent location on a quiet street but still close (easy walking distance) to all the Centro attractions. Comfortable and very clean, Wonderful breakfast. Very friendly host. Gorgeous art throughout the property. Highly recommend this place
Exceptional!
A lovely small hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. Original paintings and mexican crafts (especially masks) are part of the decor. Delicious breakfast . There is a small garden area with a small pool. The kitchen and dining area are open for the guests to use. The location is within walking distance of most of the city sights. The owner Johann and the manager Pilar are SO friendly and helpful We felt perfectly at home and will return every time we got to San Luis.
Delightful B and B.
This is a delightful bed and breakfast place to stay at if you go to San Luis, and excellent value. There are only three rooms, the third of which is really a single, but the house and courtyard are charming and interestingly decorated. Lucy Alfaro the receptionist is extremely helpful and friendly. It is a little way outside the very centre of the city, so if you have mobility issues this might not be the place for you. However, taxis in San Luis are plentiful and very inexpensive. For me, and this is my only complaint about a lovely place to stay, the coffee for breakfast was way too weak, but then I like an expresso rather than hot brown water.
